The Holiday Inn Sanibel Island is really just an old motel, probably from the sixties, with no interior corridors and parking in front of your door. Consequently, the rooms are very small by modern standards, have small bathrooms and views of the parking lot. But these are the only negatives about the resort. Location is great, just walk up to the sandy sanibel beach. They try to be a mini resort and some of that works well (swimming pool area is quite nice with palm trees, they rent bikes to tour the island, you MUST do...). Just stayed here one night because I had free points from PriorityClub hotel reward program. The room was typical old-school Holiday Inn, but clean and in a great location. Excellent location (also vs. other "on island hotels") - the beach in front of the hotel is great - lots of shells - and central location on the island. Clean room. Was not able to get King bed ended up with 2 doubles but other than that it was good. Room was nicely decorated. Fridge, microwave and coffee pot were a real plus. Did not eat at the restaurant. Day of arrival had a cheeseburger at the Tiki Bar by the pool and do not recommend eating there. Pricey... more

Nice location, nice beach....pool very small with no ambience. Rooms very small and nothing special about them. Staff is wonderful, rooms are very clean. Restaurant prices , incl. breakfast, are ridiculously high so we ate our meals off the premises in town. Restaurant too elegant for the facility. Resort, although well-maintained, is old and outdated looking....and on a mini-resort scale.... more
