Small 5 unit Sanibel Island Inn across the street from Beach, u-shaped units surround heated pool creating loud echos when children present. Small units with double beds, kitchen and bathrooms designed for 1 person at a time. Parking just outside of units. Inexpensive Island Inn. Friendly staff.

So we (Husband, wife, 3-month old and a 11y/o black lab) loved the Sunshine Island Inn, in Sanibel. Overall, if you go in knowing what to expect you will not be disappointed. So what should you expect? You should be looking for a beach cabin that is perfect for shaking out you and all of your stuff after a long... More

This place was very clean. Karen and her staff were very friendly. We called several times before we arrived and someone always called us back in a timely manner. We arrived late Thursday night and we even received a phone call to check on us. We walked across the street to the beach!! The pool was private and clean. We... More

My husband and I now understand why Sunshine Island Inn was the only place on Sanibel Island that was charging less than $200 per night. The unit we had (Lighthouse) was in terrible condition: broken small window glass, broken screens that did not fit properly in main living room/bedroom and in bathroom, moldy smell in bathroom, unsanitary chipped counter top... Before coming to Sunshine, I did what my husband insists I do with ALL our travel plans, I investigated the Inn reviews FIRST on this site (and searched for others!).. I've learned after many years of traveling, staying from 5 star and suites to simple and quaint, HOW to read these reviews and read thru the lines. Boy am I... More

I'm mostly writing this review for whoever actually owns this property to let them know how difficult it is to reach a live person. I've been trying for three days. Something is wrong with the answering machine/voicemail. It rings forever and twice, I was able to leave only a 3 second message. I resorted to e-mail. Today, I reached my... More

Mold in the tub/shower. Outdated and dilapidated charcoal grill, a gas grill would have been nice. Small refrigerator that froze our food. No wi-fi internet anywhere on the premises even though we were assured a week before our stay that it worked. Other guest's dogs wondering into our room from poolside. Beach chairs/umbrellas broken and falling apart. The owner's obviously... More

The Inn is in a nice location, with the beach a short walk away and restaurants and shops accessible with a quick car or bike ride. But the "affordable luxury" that was advertised was quite a misnomer--the place was not particularly reasonable in its rates and it was a far cry from luxury. The room had the convenience of a... While advertised as an inn or cottages, it is really a small motel in a residential neighborhood on Sanibel Island. It has a small pool, Wi-Fi near the office, a canal side dock for kayaks or john boats, and access to the beach via a trail between condos across the street. Good location - quiet and tropical. Exterior is bland... More

We have stayed here, through many owner changes. We love the location and whenever we stay, the owners are friendly and accommodating. It was 15 years ago we first stayed, and have stayed there at least once each year after!!! Just this last July, we rented all the room for our family, so we could spend a weekend celebrating my...
