We stay at The Pier Hotel about three to five nights every year. It is clean, comfortable, welcoming and full of charm. I did read one complaining review about the small TV (19" Admiral) and don't remember ever turning the TV on. Honestly, we never booked (or did not book) a hotel based on its brand and style of TV.... more

Loved the old world charm of this hotel, the wine in the afternoon. The hotel rooms are fairly small, old furniture. The bathroom has the now fashionable bathtubs with foot. Room I stayed in was very quiet. Stayed only one night. Breakfast was included. Staff is very friendly. The veranda in front is quaint. Parking is available next door for... more

This hotel's website promises "lowest price guaranted " directly from hotel's site, yet when I found a $40.00/night ! cheaper rate on O****z, upon requesting help from them by email, I got NO answer, and on calling them by phone, they just laughed it off!!! ( I did not want to use O****z, because lately, every email from them, is... more

I have traveled all over the States and Europe. I come to Florida once a year to visit my sister and for the last 5 years I have stayed at the Pier Hotel, because I just love everything about this special, quaint hotel. The classic decor evokes the image of the 1920s, when this hotel was a hit resort. The... more

My husband and I are locals and just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. We wanted to get away without having to go too far to get there. The Pier provided a wonderful place to relax and enjoy all of the wonderful offerings of downtown St. Petersburg within walking distance. We had dinner plans, concert tickets and never had to... more

My partner and I spent one night here whilst exploring the Gulf Coast and this hotel was great. Yes the rooms are slightly 'shabby', but they are very clean and they feel very traditional, which is in keeping with the lobby and the outside of the hotel. We got a great rate and the happy hour and breakfast that were... more

The only reason I did not add top rates on rooms and value is that there is no safe deposit box in the room (could easily be fixed :-), and that some rooms have a thin door to the adjacent room, which does not provide much privacy, so make sure you get a room with only one door (unless you... more

Someone wrote that this was one of the best hotels they've ever stayed at. I assume they have done all of their previous traveling in Siberia. I was there three nights and, on the third day, had to ask to have my sheets changed for the first time. The 19" television was manufactured by "Admiral" and had the picture quality... more

We are always wary of private hotels that are not part of a group because things can go badly wrong, but after a disaster at Fort Myers Beach and wanting to move on, we took the recommendation of the Rough Guide to Florida, and booked one night at this hotel, and wished that we could have stayed longer. From the... more

So I'll say the best things first: this historic hotel had a charming lobby, free happy hour, a small but sufficient continental breakfast, free parking, and the location in downtown St. Pete is great. Now to the not so great parts of this review...no elevator, which I knew in advance, but not even a ramp to get into the hotel.... more

Management response from
Rick Hoe, Owner

It is our policy not to dispute any review, unless it is factually wrong so I wanted to clarify that we are not able to become ADA compliant due to the fact that the hotel was built in 1921 and is a historic landmark. The outside cannot be changed due to the government restrictions of being a historic building. We...
