We had site 223, and our view of the bay was obstructed somewhat by the mangroves, but it was still lovely. We stayed Sun-Wed and it was quiet all day and at night. We were 2 sites away from restroom 6, which was perfect. Facilities are very clean. You can't swim in the water, but we waded ankle-deep to cool... More

It is a fantastic campground with all kinds of things to do! The campsites were very nice and the beach was beautiful! We will definitely be coming back here!!!!!! There are lots of racoon's but they didn't bother anything and were so cute!

We booked literally the LAST waterfront campsite (#38) several weeks before our trip in the section that only allows tents or small pop-ups. So while I knew that meant it was a popular campground, I wasn't sure I was getting that great of a spot. Turns out it was fabulous. Huge grassy area in the back and a perfect spot... More

This was our very first time at this campground. Check in was very fast and easy. The ranger at the desk checking us in was extremely nice and knowledgeable. We stayed in area 2 for pop-ups, vans, etc. Not much room at all to even back our little pop up camper into the site. There was hardly enough room in... More

I grew up on the Tampa Bay and have been camping at this campground since I was a kid. First off, Fort De Soto Park itself is amazingly beautiful. It has some of the most gorgeous stretch of beach in Florida. The running/biking trails, BBQ pavilions, pier, historic fort, dog beach and sights to see are some of the best... More

Fort De Soto is a quiet, clean county park in the most congested county of Florida. We camped here for three nights in the month of July which was very hot during the day but cooled down nicely during the night. Their restrooms and showers are clean but not updated. You are just 2 miles from undisturbed natural beaches. If... More

Just spent a week here with the family, loved almost every minute. We camped on the west side in area 1, the view was amazing and the kids loved playing in the water and catching little fish. We took a small boat and were able to have it on the bank by the site. Bathrooms were a little dated but... More

Well, camping was a favorite past time of mine as a child and I wanted to share it with mine. Since this campground is not far, we decided to try it out. We don't have pets so we chose the area 1 campground for tents and no dogs. We had lot 72. The lot was big enough for a big... More

We are novice campers but decided to start with a place not so far from home. We were very happy to find water, electric, grill, and table on our site, as well as nearby shower facilities (surprisingly clean!) Ft Desoto is a beautiful park with trails, beaches, and piers to fish from. Kayak/paddle board rentals nearby. All of the campsites... More

Clean camping spots. We had a gorgeous breeze all week. Minutes to beaches. Short drive to sports stadiums, zoo (worth every penny) aquarium and nearby beach towns. Bathrooms were a bit of a dance with small kids but we managed. We will definately be back again!
