My wife and I came here for our anniversary to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a while and enjoy some peace and restful relaxation. Fort De Soto definitely provided that for us in spades and we were able to have a great experience! The camp grounds are nice - but if you are camping,... More

We are camping four nights at Fort De Soto Park. Our site is excellent, with frontage on the water! During our morning coffee we had two bald eagles fly right by our site. We also saw dolphins swimming nearby! The bath house facilities are clean and functional. Staff are friendly and helpful. The beaches are a short bike ride from... More

More expensive than state parks, no fire pit but beautiful. Bathrooms could use updating and so could playground. Bring kayaks if you have them for inside the campground. You can walk/bike to the beach. There are some nice playgrounds down there. Laundry available and cheap (only about 75 cents per load). Make sure you bring everything you need with you... More

The raccoons have gone away. Well, not all of them, but we only saw a handful. It probably wont take long for them to reproduce though. Thanks for getting rid of them! It was very pleasant in our campsite #10 on the water. This year there were no winds and the weather was mostly pleasant. Our site was spacious, but... More

We stayed for a week at Ft Desota in a 35ft motor coach. We pulled in facing the water and were treated to wonderful displays of nature daily. The bath house was very clean. The beaches and piers were all very nice. My only complaint is that the lady running the store was less than friendly. We nick-named her "sunshine".... More

Love the waterfront sites. You can kayak and bike... Has it all but the camp store is expensive. Buy wood before you get out to the island. There are no fire pits. Buy that too. However view is gorgeous:)

We went with our whole troop. 14 of us! We spent about 4 hours and it was beautiful and not too crowded. Lots of places for picnics. Kids found a live conch which was the highlight. Nice place to relax and enjoy nature. Great bike trails. There isn't any place to eat, so bring your own stuff.

Some sites back up to water (not to the beach). East Beach is an easy bike ride away (1.2 miles) while North Beach is a car ride (5 miles or so). Lush foliage makes it feels like a tropical paradise. Birds and fish everywhere! Will go back.

This is one great park and I will be back. Spaces are big and secluded. More than enough sanitary disposal units, and bath houses through out the park. However the dump station in the pet area you have to go out of the park then back in to use it. Overall the park is in its natural setting of the... More

We are not campers but, had rented an RV and very luckily found Fort de Soto on the map and decided to stay there for a few days on our way back from the Sarasota dragon boat races. Couldn't have been more pleased! Beautiful park with abundant wildlife. The campsites were beautiful and the grounds well maintained. There is a... More
