Great find! Beautiful white sand beaches. We didn't stay in camp grounds, went for the day. Visited Fort. Beach is perfect for families. Fish swimming all around us. Saw dolphins playing by bouies, just awesome. Bring an umbrella or you can rent them. Highly recommended. Loved more than Clearwater Beach.

Let me start out by saying, the fort is amazing. It's a great place to take your kids to learn some amazing history about Florida. The fort was very clean and the cannons were incredible. The beach itself was also clean. The sand was white and soft. The pier was a long stretch over the water. It was beautiful to... More

Everyone told us how great Fort De Soto is, so we decided to check it out and stay at the campground there. What a mistake. Got a "waterfront" site (217). Too bad we couldn't see the water through all the overgrown weeds and trash plants that were allowed to block any possible view. These weren't mangroves or anything worth protecting.... More

We loved the Fort Desoto Park and Campground. The location (at the southern end of the St. Petersburg/Pinellas County peninsula, at the mouth of Tampa Bay) is fantastic. The beaches were very nice and the children loved running in the shallow water, grabbing shells and chasing fish. There is a fee to enter the park but it is nominal. The... More

We visited Ft DeSoto State Park following a lovely day at the Salvidore Dali Museum in St Petes. We drove over the Skyway Bridge to get there, which had a lovely view. We arrived in the afternoon, so we didn't have to pay to get in, which is always a good thing. The park is huge inside with a campground,... More

We arrived go watch the sunset. The beach was fine. My only complaint is the volume of bugs/Mosquitos. We applied spray but we were still covered with bites. I realize it was dusk , it's Florida and that's part of it but I would only go to the beach again during daytime hours. Also, there were a few people who... More

We are a couple with a little dog, we stayed at Fort de Soto for one night, tent camping on spot #103 We choose that spot because of the beautiful view and tree. There is water and plugs with electricity which was great for us first timers All spots have lots of plants in between but a few are poor... More

The camp ground is a nice family environment, kids playing and not crazy for the 4th of July weekend. It was hot but that's to be expected in Florida during the summer. We had a site on the water and there was a nice breeze. Although the website said they were booked I called and was able to get a... More

It was crazy hot so be prepared. We were lucky to get a reservation, however, we would have liked to have a camp spot in the outside loop rather than the inside loop. We are not experienced campers and were invaded by racoons the second night three times. Be sure to put your food in your vehicle because they opened... More
