My wife likes to collect seashells, so I thought, this island out in the Gulf might work. We didn't find any shells, not in one piece anyway, but the beach was heavenly. We went in November, but the temp was perfect, and the beach, deserted. A nice, clean beach all to ourselves. It was also kind of deceiving. All around... More

This beach is quite lovely. While the sand is not sugary white, the beach is wide and smooth. I've heard some say that the St George Island beaches are rocky but that was not my experience. The State Park was quiet and somewhat deserted during our visit. It's a fantastic place to kick back and read a book if that's... More

We loved it. It was about as rustic as we could stand in our motor home. The climate was great in September and the total lack of hustle and bustle was a welcome change after driving down from NY. The mosquitoes were not as bad as some have suggested but were certainly present in-force. I don't know if there is... More

It was great, the beach was nice and only few people so it felt like a privet beach. The campsite was clean and the staff friendly. The campsite was almost full but it was quiet and pleasent. The capsite had good privecy for each tent. 10 minutes walk to the beach. Plenty mosquitos so a mosquito net is a must!... More

We stayed in the campground in an RV for a week. Pros: Large tract of undeveloped beach. Variety of blooming wildflowers. Pod of tail-slapping dolphins and lots of pelicans to watch. Cons: Not even a hotspot would pick up Internet signal. Not true of other state parks in the Big Bend. The campsite #26 had a foul odor so we... More

The campground in St George Island State Park is a barrier island park with 60 campsites with electricity, water hookups and a dump station nearby. The campground is located behind historic dunes in the pine forest – with shade! There are no ocean or Gulf views, but the campsites are only a quarter mile from the beach. There are two... More

We came back this year to spend some time on the island and enjoy a beautiful Florida beach. This is one of the top rated beaches in Florida and we have started bringing our teenager here for him to appreciate the beauty of nature. The state park is the best beach access on the island. Go down to the second... More

I'm sure there is more to this park than the beach but as beaches go, this one is perfect! We have been to many. The white sand, the facilities, the water. All perfect! This park is at the end of St George Island and happened to be close to where we were staying. The water was like bath water during... More
