Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Nestled in the heart of the city, DoubleTree by Hilton St. Augustine Historic District wins acclaim for its prime location, with guests often mentioning the ease of access to local attractions and the charm of the adjacent park. Many guests find the hotel's atmosphere welcoming due to the attentive staff and clean, spacious accommodations, although some feel the decor could use an update. While the complimentary shuttle and pool are hits, the added costs for parking and breakfast have not gone unnoticed. Room opinions are split, with comfort and space scoring high, but with some cleanliness concerns and dated design mentioned. Despite gripes about the parking and breakfast costs, the service at this hotel frequently earns high praise, especially the front desk staff, who are celebrated for their helpfulness.

the hotel is in a great location within easy walking distance of the historic area. you can tell that the rooms had a soft renovation within the last five years. they are lighter than the older photos that you see online. the red wall with the dark carpet was replaced by lighter colors. everything was clean and comfortable. my biggest complaint is the elevator locations. the elevator “lobby” is its own long hallway with one elevator on each side. i feel like a squirrel every time i go to take it, not sure weather to go to the right or left. the only thing i can think of is at some point in time the hotel added another elevator and only had room for one elevator on the other side. i could see how it would be a major issue to reconfigure this but it’s very annoying trying to figure out which way to go. the lobby is missing something, i can’t figure out why but i just don’t like it. it’s not an area that i would want to have a drink in. if they were too rebrand the hotel i would strongly recommend completely reconfiguring the lobby bar restaurant and elevators.

My wife of 39 years and I went on a get a way for a few days of golf and fine dinning. We stayed at the hotel; they were very friendly, and clean. I charged my EV everyday for free, a nice amenity. When we left, I left my wedding ring and watch in the vault in my room, and Maggie the hotel manager let me know she had it. Talk about an honest hotel, and a great Manager named Maggie !

This property needs to do better. The room was just ok - but not clean. The carpet looked like the vacuum only touched the accessible areas, the bathroom shower had mold/slime on the grout that I cleaned up myself because it was right at eye level and gross (we could not change rooms due to no availability - I asked). The rooms need an update for sure - peeling paint, dirty grout in bathroom, burns on carpet, etc. The check in process - the guy at the desk was more interested in carrying on about his phone than taking care of our check in. It was rushed, we received no information about the property-services, amenities, shuttle, etc. We were also not informed that there would be no breakfast service that weekend. The lounge was not open on Saturday night. Parking - is terrible at this property. There are not enough spaces, and the hotel charges a daily fee to park. Worse even still, there was a carnival happening across the street. We were forced to park offsite due to the carnival crowd having taken up the available spaces that may have existed. We were told to go to the parking garage down the road near the Renaissance to park. But the property still charged us for the valet parking fee even. That is ridiculous. When we checked out, we told the front desk and we just got a stare and "sorry I cannot make changes to the reservation fee. you can talk to a manager when they are back on site." Breakfast - not offered, sorry for the inconvenience. Lounge - not open on Saturday night. So much for my daily food/beverage credit. The only thing this property has in its favor is the location. Otherwise, the customer service, amenities, and lack of proper guest experience makes this a pass for us next time.

Six of us family and friend senior citizens stayed here for three nights. It was my first trip to St. Augustine. We all thought the hotel was well located, within walking distance of St. George St. and a short distance to one of the trolly stops. The reason I'm writing this review though is because we had a thoroughly pleasantly stay at this hotel. Brandon at the front desk was such a pleasure to deal with and put up with all our questions and such, as well as Rose and the other front desk clerk. We could tell that the hotel is well managed. Joe in the breakfast room really hustled and waited on us all very efficiently! I didn't eat, but my friends were happy with their meals. The workout room was a nice size and well outfitted. It had free weights, weight machine, swiss ball, couple of treadmills, couple of bikes and one elliptical and I think a mat. No scale though. Didn't go into the pool or hot tub. Pool area seemed nice though. Nobody had any complaints (which is highly unusual with this crowd!! lol)

Room was very tight, TV did not get CBS station on Super Bowl Sunday!! Tub had gouges, no microwave in room & bed was uncomfortable. On top of that the breakfast was not included with the room and they wanted $17 for it! It had been a Days Inn we discovered! Pic on website phony!

Our stay at the hotel was satisfactory, but we would consider other options if we were to stay in the area again. We felt the hotel charged a premium for its DoubleTree name and location but offered little else. The level of service we received and the room we stayed in were average but not exceptional. The only times the staff greeted us were during the check-in and check-out process. During our check-out, the front desk clerk did not ask if we enjoyed our stay but only if we needed a receipt. Although the room was clean, it required updating. We could often clearly hear the guests in the neighboring rooms, hallway, and even at the outdoor pool. At one point, there was a strong smell of marijuana in our room. Thankfully, the smell disappeared after we reported it to the front desk. The additional $24 per night charge for parking in the property's cramped lot seems excessive, especially considering the cost of the room. Additionally, guests should be aware that although the hotel is promoted for its Historic District location, it is still at least a 10-15 minute walk to many downtown attractions.

The room was comfortable and nice. It was quiet. The bed was fine but the mattress was harder then our liking. We received extra coffee and creamer when we wanted it. We called for so supplies and it was therein a few minutes. We asked for more towels and got them fast. Cookies are good too!

DoubleTree is Hilton's brand for older hotels which don't want to remodel. This hotel fits that billing. The lobby and hallways are dark and poorly lit. The rooms have some updated fixtures and decent furniture, but the bathrooms are small and the toilet is uncomfortably close to the shower. The TV has a channel which shows uncensored pornography at night. In 2024, that is not acceptable. This hotel is old but not in a good way. Look elsewhere.

Just wanted to give Brandon and Alex at the front desk a huge shout out. Brandon was very professional and knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Alex, for only being his 3rd day on the job was also professional and knowledgeable. Always welcomed us back with a smile and a big hello. The front desk makes a huge impression on the clients and these two are top notch. Thanks for everything!
