If you are a child of the 60's you may have stayed at motels just like this one all over Florida. The charm I found here was parking right outside your room door, immaculately clean room, and a place to park our 24' long pontoon boat with a wash down hose. They even provide clean rags to clean your boat!... More

My husband and I recently returned from a fishing trip with another couple. We stayed at the Dixie Belle nearly 9 years ago and not much has changed...in a good way! Cold air and a place to lay your head. We appreciated the note that a hand towel was missing from the room...we accidently stuck it in our bag for... More

We went to Port St. Joe to enjoy the scallop season with another family of four, and we needed an affordable place that we could use as a base for our daily adventures. We'd considered camping but thought that air conditioned rooms and showers might feel quite good after long days in the sun - and we were right. The... More

I really appreciate your telling folks exactly what we are here at the Dixie Belle. I try through my website to let people know what to expect. My fears are always that expectations are too high. We are what we are. What we want is guests like you who appreciate what we have to offer. More

If you aren't snooty and are looking for a place that is clean, inexpensive, convenient and well accommodates boaters this is your place. We dug the old Americana vibe of the place. After a long fun day enjoying the bay it was just what we needed. No more but no less.

The Dixie Belle was built in 1956 and surely has it's limitations. We're always happy to welcome guests who are happy with the "historic" atmosphere and we think we know our demographic pretty well and cater to the boater's needs. More

We stayed at this quaint little motel while scalloping and boating for a few days. The rooms were small but perfect. The room was clean and smelled fresh each day. The other guests were friendly and considerate. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay. Rooms had a small coffee maker,... More

I'm dreading writing this review, but the secret is out!! Yes, this is a fisherman's and family hotel. It is definitely out of the 1950s. The owners are on site and super friendly. The outdoor fish cleaning station was great for cleaning our scallops. Our room was small and outdated, BUT had a fridge, microwave, great A/C, hot water, and... More

Stayed for three nights. Our room was super clean. I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Nice and cool air conditioning. Nothing fancy here, but if you need a cozy place to sleep and clean up, this is it. We spent most of our time at a beach that was just 1/8 mile down the road. Not many people there. That... More

I have stayed in some rat holes in my day, but this is the first time I have ever had to argue about getting extra towels. The lady running the motel had a bad attitude and made every request a hassle. The light switch broke in our room and her first response was "Well can't do anything about til tomorrow."... More

As to the broken light switch, the guest reported it at 6 PM. I called my husband from a meeting at the VFW and the switch was repaired before the family got back from dinner. Towel theft is one of our biggest expenses. There were plenty of towels for the whole family. With this group, I had a hard time... More

Nice place. Very satisfied. Very easy to enjoy. Great beaches. Thinking of buying a home in Mexico Beach! Incredible views. Great little town. The fishing was awesome, we caught shark, snapper, trout, redfish, whiting, Pompano. You name it! Restaurants were nice. Local police were very forgiving. We just love the atmosphere.

I'll be honest; I was skeptical. However, I was pleasantly surprised by what we found. What a great little place! The location was fantastic, the room was clean and cute, and the owners were extremely friendly and helpful. I wish we could have stayed longer, but, alas, the real world is waiting.

I totally understand that people are a bit reluctant to try an independent roadside motel. I'm glad you did and found out that we do our utmost to provide you with a clean and comfortable stay. More
