We loved the rustic-ness of Bilit Rainforest Lodge. The lodges were quite basic but nice with air con and hammocks on the front porch and macaque monkeys running around the place. The river cruises were very good, we saw hornbills, macaques, probiscus monkeys, a baby crocodile, civett cats, owls, kingfishers... and almost an elephant! The staff were very nice and... More

Having read some of the other reviews of BRL, I have to assume that the reviewers have not stayed at any of the other lodges on the Kinabatangan river - if they had they would not be so fulsome in their praise for what is actually a fairly tired, run-down and poor facility. My wife and I stayed there last... More

Five minute boat ride to get to the lodge where we were greeted with a cool drink. Very friendly staff and the accomodation is fairly good, with lots of space in rooms. Don't expect 4 srar accomodation as you're here for the wildlife so if you are too precious, stay in Sandakan or K.K. instead and watch the Discovery Channel.... More

My husband and I stayed here for two nights as part of our trip through Malaysia and loved it! We had one of the VIP lodges as we were on our Honeymoon but the standard lodges looked pretty similar. The lodges are up on stilts with an elevated wooden walkway which looks really cool again the background of the rainforest.... More

We stayed for one night which was good enough to see many wildlife. We were spoiled coming from Danum Valley which allowed us to see many animals and birds already. However, there were additional species we saw here that we did not see in Danum so we were happy we visited this place. As stated by other reviewers, the tours... More

We booked a trpadeal package which we didn't realise was truly budget. Our mistake. Our room had a very hard bed and pillows, a shower that had no pressure. Our first river cruise was in the pouring rain - not fun. We had hours of free time without anything to do. Most cruises were the same - crocodiles, proboscis monkeys... More

Well, it is a rainforest lodge..so expect a lodge in the rainforest! Reached by a short boat crossing with nothing around but rainforest and bordered on one side by the river. There is absolutely nothing to do but eat, sleep, go on beautiful boat cruises or get your jungle gear out and go on a guided tour through the rainforest.... More

We had a 2 night stay involving 3 river excursions. The excursions were fine and we were lucky enough to see a reasonable amount of wildlife including pygmy elephant. The lodge accommodation is showing signs of age and needs refurbing - our room ceiling leaked in the rain. The rooms were never serviced during the whole stay and the reception... More

Bilit is a lodge right in the Jungle. Do not expect luxury or anything like that. But you will be well located for exploring the Kinabatangan river. The service was excellent, the food good and ample, the rooms very very spacious and the boat cruises fantastic. With reasonable pricing, Bilit Rainforest lodge is a must go lodge!

This lodge was included in a tour package for us so we didn't know what to expect. The lodge was in an excellent scenic location on the river's edge. The room we were in had it's own electric hot water system but no clear instructions on how to use it. Staff were generally helpful and friendly and the food was... More
