This is a great little resort to get away from the rest of th world. To the west it opens on to the sands of the Gulf of Mexico. To the east, there is a great swimming pool over looking Sarasota Bay. Bring the fishing equipment, bate shops all over the place. Each unit has a great kitchen, fully equipped.... More

I appreciate your reply, but it is for the wrong motel. We have no tiki bar. It may be a place down the street? Sarah More

I was nagging Tony to stay over on the beach and this is the reason we stayed here. The motel/lodge is so-so, old and tired but kind of what you'd expect when you are at a small sea-side resort with limited accommodation - most of the motel/lodges were overpriced. We selected the Gulf Shore because a) the duty managers were... More

Thank you for your review. The location is just amazing...with both beachside apartments and bayside apartments. If you're looking for a less expensive option then I'd suggest the beachside efficiency (#8) or a bayside efficiency. Or room #16 which is the boathouse--right on the water but still an efficiency so it's not very much to rent. I hope we see... More

I am glad I looked beyond some of the comments, we wanted to be on the beach, in a self catering unit, with air-con, Wifi, a nice view, outdoor seating, that is clean. Well this place had all of that, yes the buildings are old, and there are things that can be improved, but or an old place you can... More

It's really strange reading about the experiences of others who had such a bad time; this was our favourite stop on the whole of our trip. Rodney was an awesome character and really looked after us during our stay, helping us out finding shark's teeth on the beach and filling us in on the local vibe. We even stayed an... More

We booked 8 nights. On arrival the owner said we booked 9 & was going to make us pay for 9. Then he said he couldn't take my discover card & needed cash & I could go to the bank. We waited for the room to be cleaned & found marajuana in the chair on the patio of the room.... More

I spoke to the manager (who later claimed to be the owner when I tried to report him) for over 30 minutes about making a reservation for one night. When I called back to book, he claimed I could not stay for one night (even though he assured me this was possible before). Then he proceeded to hang up on... More

We made reservations by phone and negotiated a price. When we arrived I tried to pay them right away but they did not want a check which I thought was quite strange. Upon check out, they had a prepared receipt for 430 dollars more than our agreed upon price. I have no doubt about the price as when I confirmed... More

it is old...but what a beautiful location! I would not recommend room 7 the bed was broken and the shades were filthy! I think this could be a charming motel with a little paint and TLC! It is located right on the beach and the staff is friendly! Just needs a little care!

Traveled to Gulf shore last year and was not happy at all, then returned this dec and they had improved a lof of spaces, new cleaning staff and a on site mgr was there to greet us. Its not a 5* hotel but my room was clean and everything worked, Fishing was great at the lighted dock. Staff was there... More

It's old... but if you can stay in Cottages 5 or 10 on the beach or Cottage 14 just across the street... then it is well worth it. The beachfront cottages have 2 BR, 2 full baths, living room, full kitchen, brkfst area and covered patio for $200/night. Cottage 14 has 1 BR downstairs w/full bath, a private loft BR... More
