Very nice historic inn, with a few problems. Swarms of gnats greeted us at the entranceway, and again in the hallway outside our room (yellow paint and yellow lighting). Rug next to bathroom was soaked (squishing) when we arrived.

From reading the reviews it seems to me that you either love or hate the Lakeside Inn ... and your stance depends on whether or not you receive a renovated room. Sit on the front porch of the inn or on the dock by the lake and relax, this is one of Florida's historic hotels close to Orlando with the small town charm .Rooms are being updated but don't expect a modern room experience. Mount Dora has many antique shops and businesses to keep you busy during the day.

If you appreciate old world Florida you will enjoy your stay at the Historic Lakeside Inn, Mount Dora, Florida. The Inn is comprised of several buildings maintained true to the 1833 construction period. Walk through downtown Mount Dora during the day and sit in a rocking chair or on the dock enjoying the sunset. A very peaceful, quaint experience.
