At first, I thought…what a beautiful hotel away from the busyness of the beach, but after several days here, I would rather stay at a hotel on 8th and ocean! The staff is rude. The spa didn’t have any robes or towels. The restaurant had roaches. I could continue…but Im sure this is more than enough reason for anyone to... more

I agree with all the criticisms here, some going back 3 years. Looks like the Standard has done little to change. First, the good: The pool. OK, now (some of) the bad: I so agree that the website is deceiving. Very "produced" to exaggerate an "average" place. Basically a spruced up old motel. Not "luxury." We had a "wet" room... more

I believe in giving people a second chance...sometimes I regret that belief, and this is no exception. Location, location, location is no excuse for bad service, mis-communication and overall chaos. We arrived for a day of massages, lunch and laying by the pool...not so fast. We arrived early to have lunch and were told there was no service outside by... more

Coming off an intensive business trip, my boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for some much needed luxury rest and relaxation. While the space is for the most part inviting, the staff is not. Every day we had to call for someone to pick up huge trash bags which were left outside our porch and often waited for someone,... more

This is a odd hotel, providing a perplexing and, frequently, exasperating experience for the seasoned luxury traveller. Many of the previous reviews here at Trip Advisor capture the highs and lows of an expensive few days spent here. Don't expect a large or even particularly luxurious room. There is absolutely no point in reserving a 'wet' room with the bathtub... more

We chose this hotel because it's within walking distance of our friends' home. It's rather far from South Beach, so I suggest looking elsewhere if that's where you want to be. The staff was very accommodating. There were problems with the wireless internet in the lobby, and one of the staff members tried hard to get it working for us.... more

Didn,t get this place at all. Hotel or motel or spa its hard to tell. No real complaints except the price. This hotel tries to be something its not. What it is trying to be - i have no idea. its really hard to explain. I only booked this place because it is advertised as 3/4 star and the address... more

having arrived at this place, i checked out within 2hrs. the rooms were small, tatty and oddly designed. While all the spa stuff is nice, the actual pool itself is a bit grotty as are the areas where you can sit by the bay. Could not believe the rates they were charging were >$200... reviews in the guidebook were completely... more

Stayed there for four nights. I completely fell in love with the place. Small, but clean and european styled room. Wonderful rocking chairs in front lobby. The soft pleasing smell of incense permeates the check-in areas. Gorgeous views. Large sometimes overcrowded pool area. My favorites are the beach-like areas where there are cabana loungers to stretch out and relax, and... more

The Standard is a glorified motel but it grows on you the longer you stay there. The public spaces/garden are awesome and the pool and bar area is excellent. However, the rooms are basic and VERY small..... This hotel does not allow children which is a bit pretentious, but it keeps the pool fairly quiet and low key. more
