otherwise, i'm not really sure what some of these reviewers expected. after living for two years in miami beach, i stayed at the clay hotel during a long weekend visit, because it is centrally located, i love espanola way, and compared to the cost of other hotels in the area, it is affordable. we requested a room with a balcony... more
There are no good things about this hostel. Long Walk from the bus stop. Loads of stairs up to rooms. Rooms arranged in prison like layout. Beds are infested with CRAWLING TERMITES/LICE, and even when you get rid of the live ones there are loads of skins on the beds. Mattresses unbelievably filthy. "Clean" sheets actually had large yellow stains.... more
OK. I know that the Clay Hotel is a cheap hotel. But our room was $ 159/ night, so not cheap. They clearly jacked up the prices during the Miami Basel Art Fair just like all of the other hotels in Miami Beach. We were actually participating in the fair and booked last year from November 30 - December 9.... more
I stayed in hostel Clay (not in hotel) for 5 night. We moved from Ohana whitch was too noisy for us. Clay was not that noisy and has better location cause there are a lot of shops around, cheap supermarket just in front of it. The rooms are not very nice, just bunk beds, old matrass. Bathroom was cleaned every... more
I stayed at the Clay Hotel in South Beach, Miami for ten nights. From the website I was expecting a low budget but quaint/cute room that would be a nice place to hang out when I was not out and about, a kitchen that you could actually cook in and satellite TV with more than channels( it didn't ) .... more
Stayed 2 nights in 6 bunk male only room. First hostel that I have stayed in Amazing location 1 block from Sobe Room clean & tidy. Bit of noise from school next door (not good after 3am + finishes) $21 per night WOW Ensuite bathroom. luggage room by reception + safe deposit boxes. lockable storage in room (small) more
We stayed at the Clay for two nights on the beginning of our trip and one night at the end. The first stay was pleasant, we got a room in the separate Clay Villas building in Espanola way. There were restaurants and bars on the street outside partying loudly all night, but it ways ok with the earplugs we brought... more
The hotel is situated in the middle of all the happenings, with the beach literally 2 blocks away, and Lincoln Ave (which is home to many fine but affordable restaurants) probably 5 blocks away. I couldn't ask for more in terms of the location. Also, the hotel is in the art deco district, and right in the middle of Espanola... more
I paid USD75 for a single room in April 08 which was ok for that time and the area. Def good for party-people and less for relax-and-stay-in guests; Room: basic equipment (TV, AC), clean-ish; check out a few rooms; Staff: not very interested in guests or their wishes - which is ok as long as you get a decent rate;... more
