Larry and Penny Thompson Park is probably the best hidden gem in Miami-Dade for camping and relaxing. This campground and park is located off Exit 13 of the Florida Turnpike (near the Cutler Ridge area), just south of the Miami-Dade Zoo. The park itself has a great selection of amenities (water slides, pool, beach / lake, etc. so there is... More

We spent six months in this campground in 2006. The camp is pretty, lots of fruit trees, sites are spacious and the grounds are well organized. Being summer, only 4 Pods were open, pods having about 15 sites (I could be wrong). Did not have to make reservations because there was plenty of space. Over half of the campground was... More

The reason I gave this campground 3 stars is because it really is a nice, shady location. What is the worst is that the pool and beach are only open Saturday and Sunday. Thus, if you or the kids want to take a splash on the weekday, you're out of luck. I haven't heard anyone mention this important fact. Additionally,... More

We have stayed a this Campground many times. It is definitely a nice place to spend a few days. We usually spend between 5-7 days and visit at least 3 times a year. Great facilities. Close to Malls, restaurants, stores. Grounds are kept nice. Office folk are very helpful.

The price for tent camping in proximity to Miami can not be beat. We were pleasantly surprised with a pool and an air conditioned common room with free WiFi. It's an RV park with RV's arranged in pods. It has really cheap rates and is run by the county. Tent camping is only allowed in the designated field which is... More

Wonderful campground at a very reasonable price! Unique arrangement of the RV sites in cul-de-sacs (which they call "pods"), with several bath houses/laundry/clothes lines throughout the park. Sites were gravel with some shade. We were a little disappointed that there weren't any fire rings. Nice walking trails in the park (just outside of the campground). Be forewarned, it will take... The facilities are VERY NICE! There are approx 3 laundry/bath houses spaced out within good walking distance. We loved seeing the unique way others made there RV spot a home. Nothing looked run down. Grounds were well kept. Planned activities. We would definately come back. This is a great place and the price is good too. WiFi free and very... More

This place is focused on RV business and is throwing us tenter's a bone. No organized sites. It's a piece of land in some tree cover with a few grills and tables spread about. But lots of room and at $17 a night with all the facilities is really a great score this close to Miami. We will be staying... More

We enjoyed staying here for 1 month. Friendly staff, clean, WiFi and we were in the rear of the park... Not far from shopping, 22 miles to airport, close to Miami Zoo among other things..price includes electric, wifi, everything. We paid $565. With everything included. We will return...
