pros-a block from beach/Ocean Dr. -a few blocks from Washington and Lincoln Dr. (many restaurants, clubs, shopping) -the price -continental breakfast(think to go items, yogurt, fruit, muffins. not eggs, bacon and pancakes) cons- the service is pretty slack and unprofessional. there seems to be only one to two people working there at a time. it takes forever to get rooms... the strong points of this hotel are price and location(5 min to the beach and ocean drive with its restaurants).the rooms are clean enough, but everything is so old and shabby.we were afraid of taking a shower and even coming into bathroom because of disgusting insects climbing there.it was terribly noisy even at night(construction site nearby and the road) besides, some of... One of the only places in South Beach to not charge a resort fee, I was happily suprised that Island House was a pretty decent place to stay. Of course if you're looking for ritzy amenities you best stay elsewhere; but to be situated within walking distance of the beach and restaurants/bars, I myself will definitely return next time I... This hotel is close to the beach and there are many restaurants near this hotel. The staff are not always at the desk and a lot of the time sleeping and when you do catch one there or awake it isn't always a good thing. Not very helpful and they act like you are putting them out. It is an... More

Sometimes you can just not put your finger on why you do not like a place and that was how we felt here, Dated, and down market is the first impression, The staff were a bit off putting and would not be winning any awards, it was clean and not in a bad spot the bed was ok, Would i... More

This hotel needs to be renovated badly. If you want to transport yourself back into late fifties and enjoy painted bathtub, oil stained carpets, plastic chairs etc.. do it. There are several choices on Collins Ave with in similar price range for you to consider. I used booking site to select this purely on price. I checked in around 10... More

Don't expect much luxury here. The location is perfect though: quieter than Ocean Drive but only one street away. Staff (Ricky) is very welcoming and will lend you beach towels and chairs. The building is authentic Art Deco, if a bit rundown. I'd stay there again.

I had read reviews and booked because there were positive as well as negative comments. I found nothing positive in my stay here other than the location. I booked a "standard" room and it was anything but standard. This place makes Motel 6 look like 5-star in comparison. Old is good. But not maintained it not good. Hopefully I can... More

I stayed in the Island House In the middle of September 2013 for a week and it was a pure nightmare. From the pictures and reviews I got a feeling I made a good choice, unfortunately soon I found out I was very wrong . As soon as I checked in I disliked it. The staff who was working on... More

No issues with my stay, and for the price it can't go wrong. Staff was friendly and accomodating, even checked me in two hours early at no extra charge. The room was fine, but could use some updating. WiFi connection is poor in most rooms, so you have to use it in the public areas. Includes free breakfast, no annoying... More
