After looking over some of the reviews we were on the fence....We loved it....Our room was in the taller part of the hotel. It was perfect and clean with a wonderful view. The pool was warm and wonderful with lots of places to enjoy the atmosphere. The bar had plenty of space with a ton of seating either in the... More

The El Governor is our second home. We have been visiting here yearly for the last 13 years. We are always welcomed with open arms and always have exactly what we need. The annex room are spacious and have a kitchen. Which makes life easier when feeding 3 growing boys. There are numerous places to buy groceries nearby. The entire... More

This is a review by a 13 year old- My family and I enjoyed this hotel. They had nice rooms with a beautiful ocean view and balcony. Although, there was a lot of sand on the floor, there was a razor cover in the bath tub that wasn't ours, and there was hair and dust under the toilet. Other than... More

I highly recommend this place! Before we visited Mexico beach an the el governor I read really bad reviews so I was expecting it to be not so great. Upon arrival it was beautiful. Let me start off by saying this place isn't outdated as others make it out to me the staff is very very friendly it has a... More

My favorite beach getaway is the Mexico Beach area. My favorite hotel is the El Govenor. We stayed a few days after school was out and had a wonderful time. We stayed in the annex. Had two queens a desk and small table with two chair. Had a small kitchenette but was able to prepare meals for us. Not many... More

First, before I say anything else, their bar made me the best top shelf margarita I've ever had in my life. Okay, remember that El Governor is a motel in the 1940's 1950's sense of the term. It's old. It's clean, but old, and could stand some touches that would make it a really nice place. Every room has a... More

Nice little weekend trip with the family. Had everything needed for a toddler and six year old in room. We prepped and ate some meals in room using goodies from Port St. Joe market which we highly recommend. Beach was clean and uncrowned. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to check in early. Will return.

The location is fabulous! That's the best thing about this hotel. The rooms and property are in dire need of remodeling and for $180 a night for the beach front rooms there was a lot left to be desired. Save the few extra dollars if staying here and stay in one of the second floor rooms, they are literally the... More

I was very worried after reading some of the poor reviews and I prepared for the worst. Thankfully, our room was clean, the staff were all super friendly, and the whole weekend was very nice. The motel is dated but I could see a lot of effort to update. We really enjoyed the live music at night and being so... More

Wonderful little motel. Clean. Friendly. On the beach. Went with my brother who is handicapped. Non handicapped patrons whom were parking in the Handicapped Parking spaces were asked to move so my brother could park. Very accomidating. Would stay there again. Amazing pool that is accompanied by a tiki bar and an amazing patio to get those little ones out... More
