For the past several years, we have made Mexico Beach our only vacation destination in Florida. Although the El Governor is an older hotel, it is very clean and the views are spectacular. Each room has a balcony overlooking the beach. Our room had two double beds and a kitchenette. It is a very safe place to stay, also. The... more

We just returned from a 3 night stay at the El Governor Motel in Mexico Beach, Florida. It was a very good value for a simple, no thrills property. We had a private, ocean front balcony, king bed, small fridge and a microwave. We were so close to the beach we could hear the waves from inside the room. The... more

This was a nice hotel with a great beach location. We visited in the off season and had the place pretty much to ourselves. Rooms were basic, but had microwave and refrig. One thing I did wonder was how they cleaned the dishes that were provided in that I didn't see any replacements on the maids carts. Wireless internet was... more

It's hard to find a beachfront property that will book for less than a week, so this place fills a real need. This was a fun funky place to go for a few days in a not too crowded part of FL. It is clean and well operated. Bring dish soap if you get a kitchenette. Your balcony is right... more

If you want to stay "on the beach", this is the place--you can practically dive off your private balcony into the water (but I wouldn't recommend trying it!). The room I stayed in was very clean and had plenty of room. The amenities were nice and included a 3/4 size refrigerator, microwave, toaster, even plates and silverware. Having a second... more

We stayed at the El Governor in early July and had a wonderful time. The staff were nice, friendly and were especially helpful to me. (On the first day of our visit, I lost my glasses in the surf and they went above and beyond to help me - locating an optician and getting my Fedexed glasses to me when... more
