It was wonderful to wake up to the sound of the ocean and seagulls. There were also sounds of jets during the day as there is an Air Force base nearby. This was not an issue for us. My husband and I wanted a quiet place away from spring break crowds, and this was it. The beach was wonderful. We... More

My husband and I have been camping in the very beautiful state of Florida for 5 months this winter. After making a reservation for 1 week and arriving here we decided to stay another week. We were charged the weekly rate , then we're told the week is 6 nights! Then I asked to cancel and was told "yes". Went... More

El Governor is a tradition in our family. We love the balcony, and the smaller crowds. Mexico Beach is growing, but El Governor is has stayed the same. Winter rates can't be beat!! Room is spacious, frig., microwave, coffee maker. During the winter months, if you want to enjoy the balcony, ask for a room not on the end (they... More

This is an older motel but very clean. Has full size frig, stove & microwave of course coffee maker. All rooms face the beach and this hotel is just feet Away from it. I would listen to the waves coming ashore as I wrnt to sleep. I also got winter rates which were a great deal.

El Governor is the tallest building on Mexico Beach (with just 4 stories of rooms), and its solid old-style motel construction provides spacious guest rooms that stretch from the doors facing relatively quiet Highway 98 to balconies that overlook the beach and the gulf waters. From my balcony I viewed dolphins, loggerhead turtles, sea gulls, and pelicans. Kitchenettes are stocked... More

Beautiful spot right on the beach front. We were staying in the area however friends took us to the bar for a drink. We arrived just in happy hour time.... Margaritas for $5 - overlooking a beautiful sunset. Great staff.... A must when in the are?

Yes, rooms are outdated but the price is very good for the view...you are ON the beach and can hear the waves in your room. It doesn't get much better than that. Don't expect 5* amenities but it is a good, honest value. The bar is fun too with many locals. Great location mid-way between the Panama City and Apalachicola.... More

Overall our experience was great. However, the dinnerware is very out dated and the refrigerator should be smaller for room 327. Thank you for allowing your employees to extend their discounts to friends and family! Happy New Year!

We love staying at the El Gov twice a year at Thanksgiving and spring break. The hotel is older but pretty well maintained. The rooms looked newly painted and are always clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. A couple of negative comments 1.) they still use bedspreads on the beds. Please do away with those and give us duvets!... More

Our room was very average and could use a bit more scrubbing. With that said, the outside area was very unique and fabulous!!! We stayed in the annex, and just outside our door were grills, picnic tables and an amazing tiki with swings!
