El Governor is the tallest building on Mexico Beach (with just 4 stories of rooms), and its solid old-style motel construction provides spacious guest rooms that stretch from the doors facing relatively quiet Highway 98 to balconies that overlook the beach and the gulf waters. From my balcony I viewed dolphins, loggerhead turtles, sea gulls, and pelicans. Kitchenettes are stocked... More

Beautiful spot right on the beach front. We were staying in the area however friends took us to the bar for a drink. We arrived just in happy hour time.... Margaritas for $5 - overlooking a beautiful sunset. Great staff.... A must when in the are?

Yes, rooms are outdated but the price is very good for the view...you are ON the beach and can hear the waves in your room. It doesn't get much better than that. Don't expect 5* amenities but it is a good, honest value. The bar is fun too with many locals. Great location mid-way between the Panama City and Apalachicola.... More

Overall our experience was great. However, the dinnerware is very out dated and the refrigerator should be smaller for room 327. Thank you for allowing your employees to extend their discounts to friends and family! Happy New Year!

We love staying at the El Gov twice a year at Thanksgiving and spring break. The hotel is older but pretty well maintained. The rooms looked newly painted and are always clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. A couple of negative comments 1.) they still use bedspreads on the beds. Please do away with those and give us duvets!... More

Our room was very average and could use a bit more scrubbing. With that said, the outside area was very unique and fabulous!!! We stayed in the annex, and just outside our door were grills, picnic tables and an amazing tiki with swings!

Very nice park. On the smaller side but clean with very friendly staff. Pool and bar accross the street with an amazing Gulf view. Walking distance to restaurants, stores and beach. Pet friendly. Would definitely recommend and come back. Happy camping!!!

This was our first time staying at El Governor Motel. We read reviews on Trip Advisor about it mostly positive. We checked in and immediately fell in love with tiki area and bar. However, we came back to the hotel late one of our nights and we noticed that a tattooed man and a woman were with a child who... More
