As you can see from the reviews before mine, Villa Caprice is a very special place. I now must say, WAS a very special place...as it has probably gone under the wrecking ball by the time I post this. The property is destined for redevelopment and the demolition, last I heard, was scheduled to begin in June. What was one of the most enchanting small hotels to be found anywhere (I was a repeat visitor) is slated to be knocked down and replaced by an ultra-high-end condo complex. The entire small strip from Commercial Avenue up to the end of the road where Villa Caprice is/was is basically going to become a canyon of condos, as several other properties/projects there have already started demolition. I realize that the owners deserve to cash in after many long years of hard work - - and I don't begrudge them that - - but what a shame for the rest of us to lose a place that was so loved for being quiet, small, charming, well-run, low-key - - now to be replaced with the complete opposite... more
