Sombrero Resort looks like a nice place online, BUT DON'T BE FOOLED!!!!! There were bugs in our room, the carpet left our feet black on the bottom after 10 minutes of walking on it, the ceiling fan had a thick layer of dust on it, lightbulbs were out, the blinds were broken, and the drawers in the bedroom were broken!... more

We just returned from our second visit to the Sombrero in Marathon, FL. We have found this destination to be a great value for our family. The accomodations are not luxurious (my wife says more like a college appt.) but the location is awesome. The one bedroom condos provide for the privacy of a seperate bedroom. A short drive to... more

My husband and I stayed at the Sombrero Resort for 12 days for a friend's wedding/personal vacation time. We got one of the rooms with a king-sized bed, which I liked but my husband thought was too soft. The amount of space you get was great for two people, but would probably be crowded for more than that. The bedroom... more

It was our worst stay. The (full) kitchen did not even have cutting knives and stove was not working. Even after complaining to the front desk, nothing was fixed. And the worst were the bed bugs. House keeping was so poor that we actually had dirty utensils in room when we checked in. I would never recommend this hotel. more

I saw reviews warning about the bed bugs - I was optimistic about the recent renovations - sorry to say that the mattresses in 3 different rooms all looked old and stained - NO renovations - and the doors and trim were all funky/chipped - big stain on the middle of the carpet - both the bed and pull out... more

I called by telephone to make a four day reservation. Was told the whole price including pet fee and cancel policy. Next day My checking acct is charged and I am not even there yet. The lady swears the is a standard policy to MOST motels/hotels. I disagree. more

Decide if this is the hotel for you based on your expectations. If you like to fish and want a place that doesn't sway to sleep and like to save some money by fixing your own meals, then this is the place. It is right on a canal. I think they can provide you with a place to dock your... more

This was one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in and it was NOT cheap. The metal closet doors in the living room and bedroom were extremely rusted. The laminate was falling off the furniture. The smell was damp/moldy. They charged for pool towels (even though we did not use the pool). I would not stay there again... more

After reading all of the bad reviews of The Sombrero, I was a little worried. We stayed for three nights in March 2008 and had a nice time. The kitchen was very handy and the room was clean enough. They didn't steal our money and we didn't have bed bugs. The pool is nice and the Tiki bar. Latitude, was... more
