Such a shame!! That's how I need to start this off, because had it not been for the extremely rude and inhospitable owner (a woman), the stay would have been fine. The room itself was clean with two double beds. The shower was tiny and the toiletries they provided were minuscule. I can definitely look past that, because the rate... More

I don't know where the other reviewer's stayed but it couldn't have been the Sandpiper. Dirty room. Could not wait to leave. Wet washcloth was hanging in shower when we checked in. Dust was thick on the table and dressing room table rungs, mattress was bad, dust balls in the corners of the cracked floor, bad lighting, couldn't open front... More

I am sorry you were dissapointed with your stay at The Sandpiper. We are a small older motel, one of Marathons first , with original terrazzo floors that are over 60 years old. They are bound to show some age and cracks. Each of our rooms have at least 2 windows that open and a full size double closet with mirror... More

What a quaint little motel. The outside looks like a small motel ,what a surprise the rooms are spacious. The windows open with the perfect breeze. The maid service was perfect. We never worried about the maid messing with our things while we were out. Anita has a lot of knowledge about the Keys..Be sure to ask her how to see... More

Staying at the Sandpiper for a week now has been a real treat. Not too many rooms, so you actually can meet the other residents, who here, stay for weeks to months on end. Anita, the property manager is a real generous spirit who has oodles of knowledge about what and where in the area. The rooms are bright, very... More

We didn't want to stay in Key West because of the crowds and parking. We decided to stay in Marathon, only 50 miles away. The Sandpiper is the Keys of the past. Six bikers rode to Marathon and stayed a The Sandpiper, very quaint, clean,a kitchen and quiet. The price was very reasonable. Friends stayed at another motel nearby and... More

Thanks ! We love the bikes! They fit into our parking lot so well.I am happy you enjoyed the Motel. Unfortunately we have had to increase our prices since your visit ( first time in 8 years ! ) But we still feel that the price is still reasonable and below everyone else. Thanks again and hope to see you... More

My wife and I have visited Marathon many times, and have often ridden our bikes by the Sandpiper Motel. The main thing that jumps out at you is its exotic atmosphere, almost like some of the motels in the jungles in South America that we've stayed at. The Sandpiper is such a beautiful little motel that I'd been wanting to... More

A quaint little, and I mean little motel right on the OCean Highway in Marathon, FL. 8 rooms, 4 up and down each. 2 kitties that want to visit you and a balcony upstairs to sit on and enjoy the weather and use of the internet! Full cable/satellite TV service, kitchenette that I could have cooked in quite a few... More

I travel with a friend and my dog..and we spent a week in this motel, nice, clean, quiet and the manager , Anita, is a wonderful person and very helpful. You have to share the place with some friendly cats and it was a pleasant and restful stay in spite of US 1.
