Stayed in a (very) old mobilehome called a "suite" ;-) One hour drive from Key West. Cosy bar. Quiet and easy to find. Five minuttes drive from the beautiful Sombrero Beach. Only fastfood restaurants in the area.

We stayed in cabin 11, which was attached to the main building. I'll start by saying the check in room was disgusting. The ceiling was falling apart, there were boxes and junk pilled all around - it honestly looked like someones unkept living room. When we got to our cabin, it was clean - but still looked rather cheap and... More

We booked a stay in cottage number 8 and were very pleased to find a comfortable, old Keys style accommodation. On arrival we were greeted by a nice lady who checked us in quickly and showed us to our cottage. The cottage is laid our like a typical hotel room with an efficiency kitchen. The decor is very tropical and... More

On 12-Oct-13, I booked a room over the phone at Tropical Cottages in Marathon, FL, based on information listed on Priceline.com. We flew into Ft. Lauderdale (4-hour flight) and drove to Marathon (another 3-hour drive) that same night to reach the property after-hours. It was an extremely poorly lit property with no directions to the office shack. The directions included... More

Just a basic room for a quick stay, but it was fine for what we needed and compared to the prices 45 min south in Key West, this was perfect. We actually really liked the outdoor shower feature. Very relaxed island feel. Room was clean, no issues at all.

We had a lovely cottage with bedroom, (indoor) bath with (indoor) shower, sitting room with fold-out bed, kitchenette. It was just what we were hoping for - nothing fancy, very relaxed and relaxing, small, convenient. One of our fellow guests characterized the place as "Old Key West". We met and talked with several other guests at coffee in the mornings.... More

The shower and the toilet are outside in a open air bathroom. Everything is private, nevertheless it is outside. The cottages are in the flight path of the local airport. We heard private jets, and small engine aircraft in the late evening, but not at night, and then again in the morning at about 7am. The complimentary breakfast was gone... More

There were three of us travelling and we booked for two nights. The accommodation was awful. One shower was a health and safety risk, with broken tiles and it was grubby. The rooms were basic. The AC was so loud it wiould keep you awake all night. We complained and there was an offer to move two of us for... More

Do not usually write reviews as I go with the flow and think people are too critical but this is an exception. Started off on a bad foot as Expedia told us twice we could shorten our stay with out penalty and the hotel did not want to do it. After many phone calls months ahead they finally agreed to... More

This property was booked because we wanted to have a feel for the Keys long ago. Admittedly I read the poor reviews. A couple of stays have been bad decisions and this is one of the most disappointing. We were two couples traveling together. When we arrived the person checking us in had much trouble running our cards. She kept... More
