I stayed at this hostel and as for a hostel it is just fine. For a cheap place to stay in Key West - $34 a night in the dorm room, I wasn't really expecting much. The courtyard area was nice, people gathered under the tiki hut and conversed before going out at night. Yes, there is no alcohol allowed,... More

My husband and I booked one of the private rooms and didn't end up staying because the air conditioning didn't work and there were huge rats outside the door. The lady working at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The guy was rude and tried to accuse US of breaking the air conditioner! We found a very nice... More

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hostel in Key West for two nights. The room had three bunk beds and a tiny but clean bathroom. We received clean sheets at the check in. The matresses are covered with plastic and are a bit hard to sleep on but on the whole I will definitely recommend it to young people... More

I wasn't expecting much from this hostel/hotel - just looking for a cheap place to stay on overpriced Key West. The private rooms at this hostel are run as a motel, though I wasn't sure what this meant exactly before I arrived. I was pleased to find a clean room, with a large refrigerator, a TV, and AC. The bathroom... More

the reviews are right on- it is the only cheap lodging in the lower keys and they don't have to cater to anyone or clean anything- the location is outstanding= the price beats anything south of the mainland, but you better be ready to rough it- lousy beds, noisy environment, unhelpful staff- if you use it just to try and... Stayed here in a dorm for 2 nights which was more than long enough. Firstly when i phoned them to ask how i get from the greyhound station (airport) they said i had to get a taxi, only to find out later i could have got a bus which stops right outside the hotel and would have saved me $9. Though... More

The room looks quite clean. However, it is a total turn off that the matress is wraped with plastic. Also, we hear roosters calling out at 5:00am. For over $105 per night, it is not worth it.

For a second year in a row, we've stayed in one of the private motel rooms and it was just as good the second time! The rooms consist of 2 (full? size) beds, refrigerator, t.v., a 3 drawer dresser, and your own private bathroom with cute little bottles of shampoo plus conditioner and 2 of every size towel. Everything in... More

End of March we stayed in this hostel for two nights. Considering the high prices of hotels in Key West, we decided that we - two 20-years-old girls- can surely stay in that hostel for two nights - in spite of all the bad reviews I read. When we arrived there and saw where we had to sleep (a 9-bed... More

We stayed at the hostel, AKA The Sea Shell Motel, in a private room during the 1st week of February. The room was clean, fresh towels and and sheets offered daily. The room had an a/c unit , it was a little loud, a Tv with cable and a phone. The courtyard was a nice place to wind down in... More
