It's quite a disgusting place. It is the only "cheap" place to stay in Key West for a solo traveler, but I would advise either making your stay short (one night, so that you don't need to use the showers and so your back doesn't hurt the next day from the ancient beds) or paying a bit more for a... I stayed at this place for a couple of days. I chose this since I was traveling alone and had very short time to plan (1 day). I have stayed in multiple dorm style hostels across the US. This is the worst one. There was only one bathroom for about 10 guys in the dorm, so plan well around that.... More

This is our first trip to Key West and it was challenging to find accommodations that were reasonable. My first choice was a Bed & Breakfast but many have a 3 night minimum. Sea Shell Hostel seemed like a reasonable alternative within our budget. The pictures on-line are a bit deceiving. At first glance the room appeared clean but upon... More

Unfortunately for the budget-minded traveler, this is the only hostel (that I am aware of) in Key West. With that said, I will never stay at this place again! Pros: - cheapest lodging you can find (you get what you pay for?) - bathroom is decent and fixtures worked - center courtyard is a decent area for travelers/guests to come... More

You get what you pay for at this place. The rooms were clean the showers were subpar but the location was excellent and the rates are cheap. If you're on your own and staying for one or two nights and just need a place to crash in Key West it's decent. They only had about six parking spaces but they... More

Plaster had fallen off the walls in several places, the supposed air conditioning unit was dirty, noisy, not fit for purpose and kept us awake all night, the taps weren’t attached to the basin properly, we found a huge cockroach in the bathroom, the fridge was covered in rust marks etc (see photos). The staff were very unfriendly and unhelpful.... More

We stayed in the motel which has a nice location. The room itself made a tidy impression but it smelled horribly of chlorine so we shut the door of the bathroom overnight and opened the window there. There was no ventilation in the bathroom and because of the humidity they try to fight the mold with all the chlorine. Everything... More

I've stayed in hostels for a decade, and this is one of the worst overall experiences I've had. Stayed in the female dorm ($39 + tax = $44/night); we were all travelers and got along with no problems. The dorm has broken tiles on the floor. There's no soap in the bathroom; I went and spent a whole $1.29 for... More

We have been in the motel part (room for two persons). Pro: - Neg: cockroaches, bed bugs / little ants, mold, defect TV, chlorine smell, noise (and mold) of aircon, dirty floor, no vent in the bathroom (perverse humidity), price ($135 a night!!)

This hostel and motel is very basic and cheap. Plastic chairs and tables are there for guests to use in the "courtyard." There is a vending machine in the front for food. Clothes were hanging out to dry which was an eyesore. The room was very basic with terrible ventilation. There was an old wall A/C unit that could not... More
