We live in Florida and we have stayed all over Florida and we have NEVER experienced what happen at Gilbert's "Resort". The images on line for this resort is extremely MISLEADING!! The resort is in shambles. The first room we got was hot and muggy with a broken refrigerator. The second room wasn't much better. The bathroom was disgusting. The... more

I stayed at Gilbert's resort for several days with my dog and my cat. Gilbert's resort is a self-contained island of paradaise. The restaurant is open 7 days a week. The pool and the beach are awesome. Spending sunsets on the beach with my dog were the absolute best. The tiki bar is a fantastic place to meet other singles.... more

We have a friend who will be playing in a band at Gilbert's on July 3rd and 4th. We live in Ft Lauderdale so thought it would be a great idea to go for the holiday weekend. The website looked really nice and the rooms on the water sounded great - and we have a dog and they are pet-friendly.... more

We made a stop at Gilbert's Tiki Bar on our way to Key Largo. You must have their fish sandwich! It is sooooooooooo goood! Other than that, it is an average tiki bar. more

We were SUPPOSED to check into Gilbert's on March 27th. However, when we drove into the "Resort" (I use that term loosely!), we were floored! The place was so rundown, it looked like it should be condemned and torn down. We went into the lobby to "check-in" and there was a sign that said we could check our room if... more

My friends and I went to Gilberts because we were only staying a mile away and wanted a casual dinner and drinks. We had the tall skinny waiter "Jim". The place was not crowded but he ran around like he was swamped. The service was slow, he got our appetizers wrong, he got our dinners wrong, he forgot our drink... more

$140/night for a VERY rundown, drunken biker-bar "resort" with windows so filthy you can't see outside the room, a 'gravel' beach, rude office people, non-working 'amenities' (tv, fridge). I could not get a remote for the tv for the first 24 hours and the volume button on the tv was MIA. Finally a 'staff' person who smelled so bad I... more

Don't let the "resort" in the title fool you. This is a MOTEL, plain and simple. The "marina" is simply a dock for those with boats. No dive/snorkel trips, sunset cruises, fishing trips etc. are offered. The tiki bar is attractive looking, but very overpriced - $6.50 for a well drink served in an 8oz dixie cup. This is a... more

Not for everyone. I really enjoyed myself though and would love to go back. My husband and little dog and I stayed for two nights and I could have stayed the week. I loved the rock bands at the Tiki hut and the food at the other restaurant was pretty good. I liked the total lack of privacy with the... more

The Tike Bar was the best part about it!! The room smelled so bad of bleach. We spent all our time in the tike bar because the room was horrible. We left the next day and got our money back!!! more
