Well, Ed is a trip and definitely didn't go to charm school and has a dry sense of humor, but he wasn't staying in the room with us so it was easy to take. He didn't hassle us about checking in an hour early which was awesome. He gave us some recommendations for food and drink but wasn't pushy. The... More

The room was disappointing. It was clean, I suppose, but there is water damage in the bathroom and it is impossible to take a shower without getting the floor wet for more damage. Ellen did rake the leaves out of the courtyard area but she was quite cranky. Ed was angry that we called to get directions but because of... More

I have lived in South Florida for my entire life and been to the Keys over 20 times. Every time I go straight for Key West and miss everything else the other keys have to offer. This time, I wanted to stay somewhere near Marathon or Big Pine Key. We had other friends staying at the Old Wooden Bridge Fish... More

Located in Key Largo it is a pretty great place, but if you plan activities elsewhere its a bit of a drive. Ed and Ellen are doing a damn good job. We saw Ellen raking the leaves in the yard every morning. Ed has a cooky sense of humor but is quite entertaining. Its a good deal for around $90... More

Value for money as the Keys accomodation is really expensive. We arrived late and had to find the owners to check us in. Not a place I would want to spend any time in as it was scruffy and old and no view or pool but it was great to use as a base to get to the rest of... More

We were supposed to stay here for 3 nights but opted to leave after 2. The refrigerator and room reeked of fish smell - when we told the cleaning lady, she appeared so surprised. There were cockroaches and ants everywhere. We opened the cupboards to try to use a spoon and quickly shut it close due to cockroach larvae/eggs everywhere.... More

I fell from a poorly maintained deck at Ed's apartment on Narcissus Ave. in Big Pine on April 4, 2014, losing my hearing aid and cell phone. The deck had openings that allowed my chair's leg to slip through and dump me into the channel. I expected Ed to offer some compensation for my upcoming expenses, but he demanded full... More

I came down to Key Largo with a group of friends to have a nice weekend in the Keys to kayak and grill. This place was, by far, the worst part of our vacation. More than the terrible up keep(ants, dirty sheets) and outdated "amenities"(or lack there of), the owners were downright rude. Well aware of the slight upcharge for... More

First of all, the place is hard to find off the Overseas Highway. But, once you find it, you'll want to hurry into the main office, which is littered with piles of rolled-up architectural drawings, old pillows and sheets, dated appliances, lots of old crap, and an old desk where guests "register" and check in. There, you'll meet "Ed", who'll... More

We were in the Keys for a long weekend and didn't want to drive down to Key West so after looking at the reviews decided to try Ed and Ellens. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was ideal and bith Ed and Ellen were friendly and helpful. We will be back.
