my wife and I decided to celebrate our anniversary at the Kona Kai Resort in Key Largo, just off Rte 1. We stayed in the Mango Room which was even nicer than we had hoped it would be - like a a compact beach house. We could have stayed on grounds the 4 days we were there but we would... More

Have been coming here to Key Largo on and off for years, and want to recommnend this beautious creature right here in Paradise, - Kona Kai Resort and Botanical Gardens who with their very own Ethnobotanist Rick, on board are second to none. Want to know about the diversity of their flora and fauna, then recommend you take the fascinating... More

Dear jeanskasick s: Always great to see you guys. Thanks for recommending our Botanic Gardens tour. Ronnie and I are thrilled to be able to offer something as unique as our tropical ethnobotanic gardens at our small, unique, resort; who would have ever thought? Hope every guest enjoys The Gardens (and the resort) as much as you. And remember, non-guests... More

This a truly marvelous property. Two days in the "Mango" were hardly sufficient. Indeed, I could have stayed a month. The staff could not have been more helpful and gracious. The high light is are the gardens and Rick Hederstrom, an accomplished ethnobotanist who once worked at the Kew Gardens in London. What a find! How the Kona Kai managed... More

We arrived at the perfect time. Off peak season and a couple weeks after hurricane Issac. Kona Kai felt like it was ours for an entire two days. Very peaceful and quiet environment if that's what you are looking for in a vacation. We highly recommend taking the botanist tour (free for guests and approx $20 for visitors) Rick is... More

LOVED this place! We got food and some beers delivered to us and then we just hung out at the dock until late late at night. We watched shooting stars and the most beautiful sunset we ever seen. On top of that, beautiful rooms, the staff was awesome and the vibe was great. We were so impressed with the whole... More

We planned a week long trip to the Floriday Keys, and this was our first stop, as my sister was getting married on the property. It was a little expensive, but since we were only staying for two nights, we were hoping it would be worth it. The first thing we did after checking in was get out on the... More

We just got back from 5 nights at Kona Kai and - stayed in one of the suites. The suite was great - large, very clean, well equipped and tastefully decorated - great AC. The grounds are amazing. The place is wrapped around incredible botanical gardens with plants from around the world's tropical regions. Do not miss the free garden... More

Seven of us headed to Kona Kai for a special birthday celebration. Our group included mid-twenties newlyweds to an 80-plus mobility challenged person. We enjoyed everything the resort had to offer: the oh-so-comfortable pool, the botanical garden tour, kayaks and pedal boat, and the flat and clean-swept paths that wound through the perfectly planted and meticulously maintained property. Every age... More

We stayed at the Kona Kai recently and LOVED our stay! We will stay here again for sure. The grounds are beautiful and so relaxing. Every detail is perfect such as the hammocks on the small “beach”, grills, bottled waters, landscaping, kayaks, decorations, etc. We got the least expensive room which was basic, but the intimacy of the resort and...
