Kona Kai was the saving grace of Key Largo for us. We do not fish or scuba and were struggling with 100% humidity and low 90 degree temps, so Kona Kai became our refuge. The rooms were spacious, with lots of attention to detail (i.e., little portable reading lights on the bedside tables, books, plants, soft and luxurious towels, herbal... More

This was one of the most delightful places my husband and I have ever stay at. It was so quiet. No children over 16 allowed. The resort is made up of several private bungalows. Each was beautifully furnished with a large bed, a sitting area with a love seat and a set of table and chairs. The grounds are immaculately... More

This resort is beautiful, quiet and immaculately clean. Most of the "resorts" in Key Largo are on small pieces of property. This one is too, but it feels just the right size. It faces the western/bay side of the keys. The property is beautifully landscaped. There are great places to sit or recline which feel private. The room we stayed... More

On a three week tour of Florida, Georgia, South and North Carolina, Virginia and Washington DC, we booked only 2 nights at Kona Kai Resort in the expectation that there didn't seem to be a great deal to do on Key Largo and that we were not really beach holiday enthusiasts, but we did want to see the Keys. We... More

An absolute joy of a place, with quaint and clean rooms/cottages, a lovely pool, excellent sunset-facing waterfront, free use of kayaks, and the occasional manatee lounging by their dock. The gardens are gorgeous, and the staff is exceptionally friendly. Close to everything you'd want to do and anywhere you want to eat in the upper Keys, though it's awful easy... More

My wife and I booked Kona Kai where we hoped to just spend a relaxing time, with out crowds to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. The resort is small, but absolutely beautiful. The gardens are amazing. Our room was next to the gallery with easy access to the pool and beach. The suite was a one... More

My wife and I stayed at Kona Kai in June 2015, for a short stay in the Keys before heading to Miami Beach. Just as before, it's a quiet, romantic tropical retreat, giving an oasis from even the island-style "hustle and bustle". Whether laying in a hammock under the palm trees, or sitting by the pool, we never regret our... More

Beautiful setting. Pool and beach. 5-6 wine in the lobby then to their beach. Perfect place to view the sunset. They have kayaks to use and will arrange dinner reservations. They arranged a fishing guide that was great. It is close to lots of good restaurants and a grocery and other stores. There are BBQs outside each room with a... More

I was so excited when I found this place online and learned they had availability for our much needed yearly anniversary trip/ escape from the kids. Kona Kai is impeccable--from the cleanliness of the rooms to the service level of every staff member. They have thought of so many details, including the hammocks, beautiful gardens, spa products in the cozy... More

If you don't stay here at some point in your life, you are missing out. Unmatched is all I can think of to describe the rooms, the grounds, the gardens, pool, ocean view, amenities and extraordinarily attentive staff. Definitely the place to unravel your nerves, find some quiet and relax. And when you are ready to indulge in activities involving... More
