We reserved 4 rooms. Each room was slightly different, and our reactions were different, but all can be summarized by saying it's a clean cheap place to stay. My room was quiet, but my wife noticed a faint odor of cigarettes when we came in. I couldn't smell it. The a/c is on a switch by the TV and it... More

Stayed here Friday night and Saturday night for Gators game. The place is certainly NOT new. However, you can walk to the stadium (1.3 miles) and it is a place to sleep. That's about it. I was a bit concerned after some of the reviews, I personally didn't experience anything like that. It's not a resort, it is what it... More

The title says it all. If all you want is a place to sleep for a few hours that's all they have. The room had a very strong disinfectant smell, was not so clean, and if we weren't exhausted from being on the road all day we would have left. We figured we weren't going to be staying at a... More

On our cross-Florida bicycle trip, I'm becoming more familiar with cheap motels (sub-$60/night). This one in busy Gainesville was barely adequate, just barely. Lights not working in the bathroom (so the nice manager gave us her desk lamp to plug in); one dead bug (maybe a cockroach? I didn't have my insect field guide); and a rather small room. I've... Best place to stay if your on a Mancation. Just wanted a cheap hotel within walking distance to Gator Game, bars and restaurants. That exactly what we got. It is a dump, but we knew what we were getting because we stayed here last year against the wives' wishes. Go Gators!

I should have known that you get what you pay for - the owner's husband was a bit scary looking, lurking behind the door when his wife checked me in. The room was just okay, but it was very convenient, my daughter lives in the graduate apt complex right next door. I did change rooms the first night from a... More

We needed a room for a seminar in Gainesville, and this being the home of the University of Florida most rooms are over $100/night. I was a little concerned getting a room for $60, but I went to TA and notice that the reviews were good and consistent. We were not disappointed, the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The... I knew Gainesville Lodge was the "cheapest" place for me to stay at so I didn't expect any frills. My room was clean ... the bed was clean and very comfortable so my expectations were exceeded. I had read reviews complaining of smell, roaches, etc. My room (#105) had no smell ... saw no bugs ... checked the matress for... More
