When I booked this room, I was unaware that it had no elevator and we would be on our own schlepping our luggage upstairs. After a long day of travel and checking in about 7:00 pm, the lack of help with our luggage was no big deal until we realized there was no elevator. I think they should have brought... more

The reception area was attractive, clean and comfortable with coffee and biscuits available. The staff very friendly and on our arrival our request to move up a floor presented no problem. The stairs were clean as were the corridors and the room was very comfortable with a small kitchen area, dining table and chairs. We rang reception to request an... more

comfortable room, with all amenities we required. Short drive to Miami, longer drive through the keys. Tourist info close by. Did the whole " spice route",( local tourist spots) enjoyed ALL of them without fighting traffic. Good location to see Miami and surrounding area if you prefer to stay out of the city and into a more rural setting. Breakfast... more

My husband and I booked this hotel on the advice from the website and we checked out early so we wouldn't have to spend another night in this gross hotel. The carpet on the floor was disgusting--probably has never been cleaned before. There were stains on the floor and on the couch in our room. The shower curtain looked new... more

Staff was rude when checking in. They had a fire alarm check for maintenance at 8:00 am the next morning. It was excruciating on the ears and impossible to get any work done. The rooms are very thin walled and one can hear every word of conversation next door. We had to check out immediately or lose our hearing to... more

Management response from
BEST WESTERN GATEWAY TO THE KEYS , manager

We are sorry to say that we did have an unexpected fire alarm test done by our local county. I also must say that the alarm testing did not actually start to 10 am and many of the guests were suprised as we were of the bells going on and off for 20 minutes. This test was out of our...

My spouse and I had a great time in this lovely hotel. Everyone was very helpful. I had items sent to the hotel prior to checking in, and the management took the time to place the items in our room for the suprise. I can't thank them enough. more

We actually tried to stay in the Travelodge but it was full.. So we crossed the street to the Best Western. Rooms are pretty clean however the bathroom tub was a little dirty. We were just heading down to the keys so we just showered and didn't really care. They have a flat screen tv in the room which was... more

One night turned into three, as we used this hotel as a base for sightseeing. Rooms have an outside entrance, which was OK with us. Parked the rental right outside. Room was fresh and clean, and big enough for 5, with a roll-away. Breakfast was the usual deluxe continental, but totally enough to start the day. Free internet use in... more

We have stayed at the Best Western Gateway many times over the last few years and they always perform superbly. I've just read the previous review and cannot believe it to be the same Hotel we know and love. The hotel is owned by a local farming family and this is evident in the way the property is well maintained... more
