First of all this is a hostel, and run like one: communal meals, shared bathrooms, some very unusual travelers from all over the world. After staying on the Keys for a few days in pricey digs I wanted something less expensive for our two nights at the mouth of the Everglades. This hostel is run well. Rooms were clean, although... I just got back from a trip, but I already miss this place. It's not a 5 star hotel, but it has a lot more to offer than any resort. My kids loved this place so much, and they asked me why we haven't stayed in hostel before. Its location is perfect if you heading down to Key West or... More

Absolutely beautiful hostel within a stones throw of the everglades. Our stay was fantastic, both the rooms and grounds are gorgeous. The garden is amazing with its waterfall and hang out areas. Very clean and very friendly. We also took a tour with these guys into the everglades which was also excellent. Highly recommend it.

After a week driving and tenting all over the state, we made our way all the way across Alligator Alley and decided to camp in the Everglades. Almost in the park, we came across an oasis of a hostel: 25 bucks a night and we were in a hidden paradise… Chavez even came down in the middle of the night... More

This is definitely the place to be when you are looking for a friendly, clean and very relaxed real backpacker hostel close to the Everglades National Park, the Keys and close enough to Miami!!!!!!! I stayed last week for 5 nights and would have loved to stay longer! As it was low season, it wasn't very busy at the hostel... More

The Everglades Hostel was a fantastic place to stay. We met people from all over the world, had amazing communal dinners , & got to know the Everglades with their knowledgeable guide. We had such a pretty private room & relaxed in the gardens which are like a tropical jungle - fruit hanging off every tree.

This hostel is run by hippies as a sixties/seventies commune. This has definitily its charm (expecially the garden in which you can spend the evening outside with the other people at the hostel). The facilities are a bit poor and are definitily outdated but the friendliness of the staff and its charm of being a hippy commune could make up... More

Maybe we were just here at an odd time – the low season – but the hostel was mostly empty, save for a few folks who looked down on their luck and were possibly long term guests at the hostel. Our group stayed in two rooms and they were pretty clean, and towels were available for rental for $2. The... More

We stayed for a week in a private room. The room was a little pricey for a hostel considering that we shared a bathroom. The upside was that the grounds were beautiful and we had full access to a kitchen so that we wouldn't have the expense of eating out every night. The inside of the building needs maintenance, but... I was traveling by myself by bicycle from Sarasota to Key West and a friend mentioned this hostel he thought I'd like. Well, he was right! I originally only planned to stay one night, then two, and I ended up staying three. And, at that, I had to pry myself away from this absolutely delightful place to rest, relax, swim,... More
