We stayed for a week in a private room. The room was a little pricey for a hostel considering that we shared a bathroom. The upside was that the grounds were beautiful and we had full access to a kitchen so that we wouldn't have the expense of eating out every night. The inside of the building needs maintenance, but... more

I was traveling by myself by bicycle from Sarasota to Key West and a friend mentioned this hostel he thought I'd like. Well, he was right! I originally only planned to stay one night, then two, and I ended up staying three. And, at that, I had to pry myself away from this absolutely delightful place to rest, relax, swim,... more

This hostel has a lot to offer. Centrally located in Southern Florida, the Everglades, Miami coast, the Keys, etc. are all nearby. Rates are decent at $25, at this time, and $5 more for internet. Staff is very knowledgeable and there is plenty of available room (actually, a lot) and you will meet many others with suggestions. Plenty of private... more

I stayed here for a couple days as a young solo traveler, and it was great for my needs! It has a very hippy outdoorsy co-op aspect to it, with a huge kitchen for guests to make their dinner ... While I was cooking in the kitchen, another guest who had just arrived and was touring the place before deciding... more

This hostel has something special (and intangible) going for it. The staff are friendly but don't bend over backwards to service you. The rooms are clean (exceptionally so for a hostel) and done up in cheerful patterns that give them some personality. The bathrooms are clean too. There are signs everywhere asking tenants to help out. There are communal dinners... more

Let me state from the start that this is the first hostel I've used. One of the reviews below says that "city slickers" probably wouldn't like it. I don't consider myself a city slicker, but am well-traveled (Europe, Africa, and US) and like a certain level of cleanliness and orderliness. So--that's my bias. I booked the hostel because I was... more

Stayed at the hostel a few weeks before Christmas, 2006. Accomodations are average as far as hostels go. I would not say stellar, by any means, but the price is right. The only private rooms have a shared bath, which is not the greatest. No TV in the private room - though there is one in the common area. (There... more

I highly recommend the tour of the Everglades run out of the Everglades Hostel in Florida city. The tour is run in 3 parts: walking, walking through the Everglades and canoeing. It costs $60 if booked ahead and $80 for walk-ins. The guides on the trip were truly excellent and we were able to see alligators and crocodiles at very... more

We brought a group of 17 (yes, 17!) to this hostel for a weekend of relaxation and adventure, and were more than pleased with Owhnn's amazing place. The hostel is an old (1930's?) two-story building, warrenlike and full of twists and turns and tiny rooms. The bathrooms were old (cool!) but clean, and the window units in our two rooms... more
