River Wilderness has a lovely setting right on the water, with great views and a spacious apartment. The back porch is particularly nice. If you are comfortable in a double wide trailer which needs a bit of updating then you may rate it higher than we do. But, even for a trip to the Everglades (which does not demand luxury,)... More

What a great place to stay for a visit to Old Florida. The one bedroom villa has a second floor view of Lake Placid with fish jumping, birds feeding and nesting. The unit was spacious and clean. This is a good place to have as a base to visit the private attractions and Everglades National Park locations. Restaurants are nearby.... More

What a gem, the owners a loverly and very helpful, the rooms are spacious and clean with everything you require. They give you the feel of the remote but the village (city) has everything you need and all the everglades are on your doorstep. Lots of things to do and trips to explore, a very good place for a safe... More

Stayed here numerous times, the owners are very honest. Definitely, old school furnishings. If your outdoors enjoying the area its not a big deal anyway. Plan on returning, nice location too. Thanks again.

My wife and I past through everglades city years ago and wanted to go back and stay there. This place is everything we were looking for. Nice apartment style room. Screened in 8 x 25 deck overlooking Lake Placid. Myrna at the office was very delightful. The room we were in needed a little tlc but NOTHING that would shy... More

My husband a I visited R.W again this year for what has now become our annual Everglades trip. We stayed 5 nights and again stayed in Unit 4. This time there was some new furniture and our room had a second air conditioner added in the bedroom. We had a great stay, the manager is so nice and just helps... More

These bungalows are located right on the river. It is very pretty and there's a boat launch steps from your unit. Each bungalow has a screened in porch which protects you from mosquitos but unfortunately not from no-see-ums, annoying little water fleas. I couldn't sit out there for more than ten minutes because they kept biting me. The location is... More

Just stayed at River Wilderness. A friend and I (both avid fisherman) stayed here for one night. The Good : Perfect location, everything very convenient (Food, Hardware and fishing store right across the street, gas station....ect). Boat ramp is right next door to property and there is no charge to use it. Offers a quick run direct to Choco Bay.... More

This place, as other reviewers are mentioning is a bit odd... It's definitely an experience staying in Everglades City, and is certainly off the beaten track. The villas look rather dated, inside and out, but they are kept in a good condition. The room came with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, as well as a large living room and kitchen space.... More

This place is weird i a good way. The staff is super friendly, plenty of great local knowledge and willing to accommodate all sorts of strange requests. There are free canoes to use (no obscure sign-up or deposit required, just if there is one available you're free to use it). The Villa we stayed at can best be described as... More
