On the edge of the Everglades National Park and Big Cypress National Preserve in remote southwest Florida, Everglades City attracts Eco-tourists, fishermen, and the adventurers. Most of its hostelries are "quaint," but the Ivey House is clearly the most comfortable option available. Many of their lodging guests also take advantage of guided kayak adventures on the nearby waterways, and another... More

My daughter and I stayed at the Ivey House where we took a guided Kayak trip through the Everglades from 4:30pm to 8:30pm. Our guide was knowledgeable and provided us an experience I will never forget. The sights were spectacular, filled with animals and lots of birds; an extraordinary sunset and a star filled night. The Ivey House is neat,... More

Part outfitter base camp, part southern charm in the middle of a small town that hurricanes left behind, part national park like gift shop, the Ivey House is the place to stay if you are visiting the Everglades. Don't judge the town by the name, it is not a city. It was supposed to be one; today is is a... More

Ivey House is a very comfortable acccommodation in a remote area of south-west Florida. Of course, there is not much to see in Everglades City, so this hotel is the perfect base from which to start the exploration of the region. The place is very quiet (or at least it was in July, which is low-season). Positive sides: the indoor... More

I went expecting the worst in this remote area, but instead was rewarded with excellent guides. Both John and Dillon were knowledgable, well spoken and made the group feel well protected. The hotel also was a pleasant surprise, the breakfast was delicious, the rooms comfortable and just delightful. T here was nothing that I could suggest needed improvement. I would... More

As part of our road trip we stayed for 2 nights at Ivey house and were a bit apprehensive about the "no heating, no TV, shared bathroom". This was all unfounded as it looks like they have refirbed recently (our lodge still smelt of paint) and it was very comfortable. Rooms are small but sufficient, staff couldn't help enough and... We stayed here for 3 nights at the Inn. the room is spacious with 2 beds. The bathroom is not so big but good enough.there is airconditioning in the room. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. You can eat breakfast, that is very good and get coffee the hole day. We booked à canoe tour for à half day... More

We did not stay here but they planned an amazing evening kayak adventure for my husband and I. The two of us went out with a fantastic guide named John Lewis for a 4 hour adventure including watching the sunset over the water and paddling back with nothing but the stars and our headlamps to guide us. We saw lots... More

We stayed in the lodge which has shared bathrooms. Everything was clean, beds were comfortable, and breakfast was good. The lodge area is a little rustic and the bathrooms could be updated some but the stay served its purpose well for our trip. Main part of building and dining area decor was very tasteful and employees were super nice! We... More

This is a cross between a hotel and guesthouse, it is very friendly, clean, comfortable and the inclusive breakfast is very good . It has small pool in a courtyard covered over with insect mesh. It is very easy to find, although Everglades City is small and nothing is difficult to find.
