Hot, hot, hot Saturday afternoon. Air boat ride the aim but having travelled from Fort Myers, food and drink was the game. Entering through a lobby filled with preserved fish and game animals, we found the immediate bar unattended. Venturing further we encountered a hopefully representative of the establishment who directed us to the "day bar" on the other side... More

I visited the bar/restaurant only. Did not stay in the lodgings. This place is definitely worth a visit to see the building and grounds. It's an Old Florida legend and being a Floridian, I had to go. I went twice and the visits were polar opposites. If you go, and you should just to look around, have a back up... More

The whole family loved this place...My husband and I enjoyed shrimp ceviche as an appetizer, too GOOD!! The waitress, Jennifer, was pleasant and made our experience one to remember! I had the FISH TACOS, a special that day! By far the freshest and best fish tacos I've ever had! The kids loved the STRAWBERRY LEMONADE and they both had fish... More

Absolute waste of such a gorgeous building And location. The service was so ridiculously bad that we couldn't even be mad it was actually funny. The waiter seemed like hed never waited before. after 45mins my father had to go into the kitchen to ask for our salads. the waiter then brpught us papertowels and silverware when the next table... so we booked a room as a return guest a month ago for a stay next weekend. Today we got a call from someone's cell phone saying he represented this place. Since they don't accept credit cards, he wanted us to send an urgent cheque to cover our stay now. Apparently they are getting a lot of no shows. When... More

We loved the meal (fresh and well prepared) and service . . . but mostly, this historic structure and rustic original antique furnishings of this place should not be missed. You feel as though you stepped back in time (or onto the movie set of Key Largo) in this authentic inn with wall framed published articles evidencing the famous people... More

Stopped in for a quick lunch with my daughter on a recent chilly afternoon. I was looking for the "Old Florida" and I found it here. But...Despite the less than warm sign in the parking lot discouraging sightseeing, we entered. Beautiful interior, I found the old Florida. It kind of went downhill then..I had a wonderful waitress named Jennifer who... More

We were recently at the resort. We had expected the worst based on previous reviews We found the lodge beautiful, the cabins we stayed in were perfect ( you do need to bring all toiletries though including shampoo and hairdryer) the screened-in porch was a great place to hang out in the evenings and mornings. The previous food reviews were... More

Took friends to the old historic Rod and Gun club in Everglade City. Always a special place to take guests. Not anymore. Such a mess, rundown, very few options on the menu and most were not available due to being out. Waitresses and cooking staff not trained, not properly dressed. I went to kitchen for silverware and saw food everywhere... More

I love the charm of Everglade City. It's charming and The Rod and Gun Club used to be a great destination with great food. We never got waited on and on our way out the door after 20 mins of no contact we left and we were lucky to see our waitress catching a smoke outside. Skip it and head... More
