Stayed at the Rod&Gun Club last year and had a ball fished all day and came back to my room and had a great seafood meal in the dining room!!! Loved the ambiance and just the old time feel of the Club! Everyone should experience this place, friendly folks and relaxed attire, 3 presidents stayed there also heard Mick Jagger... More

I've traveled all over Florida…….there's no place like this. The building has endured several serious hurricanes but continues to return to its original splendor. Recent updates to the exterior are evident. I inquired about the recent updates and learned that, "Miss Pat has a good eye when it comes to decorating." Several years back, I came in for dinner, and... More

My friends and I decided to come from Marco to Everglades City for the day, We were shocked at how beautiful The building was, it was like we went back in time, We were greeted by a very nice woman who told us a little bit about the history of the Rod & Gun Club, We were seated on the... More

Just driving through Everglades City Saturday morning trying to get to know the town. I had read reviews of the Rod and Gun Club so wife and I rode by to take a look. Cool looking place. "Let's go in a look around!" Unfortunately, sign out front said "no sightseers but we would be happy to have you for lunch... More

Beautiful historic building in one of the remote and beautiful parts of Florida. Flew into the county airport and walked into town. Enjoyed a fabulous blackened Grouper sandwich. We accepeted the maitre'd's offer to drive us to the docks to purchase some Stone Crab and back back to the airport. Flying in, lunch and overall experience noteworthy. Will definitely return... We stayed in a cottage with two double beds with our two kids for two nights. We chose to stay here because of the history of the place. We had to telephone to book (no email), they only take cash or travellers cheques, no credit cards, We were asked to call a few days prior to arriving. We ended up... More

This town was once a thriving coastal village, but its remote location has aided its economic decline. There are a number of beautiful historic buildings in the village and the Gun Club is a must visit if you go. Also dont miss Smallwoods Store - amazing !

First of all, Rod and Gun Club and Everglades City is about nature, history, beauty, water and fishing. It's not a place for foodies to drive to for a great meal. We stayed in the Rod and Gun Club cottages and they were comfortable, well air conditioned, spacious and clean. They had a small refrigerator which was handy for cool... More

Loved every bit of it. The big white-painted dining porch with the breeze. The blackened grouper sandwich. The friendly and helpful waitress. The fabulous dark wood interior. Like out of a Hemingway novel. Really perfect and completely worth the long drive from Sanibel for lunch. Will go again next year for sure.
