We stayed here for one night at the end of June 2014. The room was ok despite a noisy AC unit. The sheets were not ironed and were unconvincingly clean. We decided to support the establishment by having dinner in the hotel, there was just one other table of guests. The food was ok. Upon arrival when I paid for... More

Cheap rate and was only room left at a hotel, nice people that worked there and looks nice inside the room but the room was roach infested! It was 8am and no one on office to check out with or to answer phone call.

We stayed there for three nights with great friends. The rooms were ok for the amount of time we were in them. The porch that joined the two rooms we had was my favorite. The staff and restaurant was a little odd. We met at the bar for drinks but they didn't have much of a selection the lady Maryland... More

We enjoyed our stay tremendously! Loved the peace and quiet. The rooms are immaculate and the pool area is a quiet oasis from the sweltering heat of June in Florida. I loved the architecture….you can't find Dade Pine and Pecky Cypress used in buildings nowadays. I understand that the building is very old, yet it is well - maintained. We... More

This place is a gold mine! Recently stayed 4 nights with my husband for our anniversary, The service was great! Our waitress Ashley truly had southern hospitality & was very sweet, Our room was very clean and cozy, the pool was gorgeous and we had the best mango margaritas! Staff odd! We were told no credit cards, but checks OK when we made the reservation (by phone - no online system). But desk clerk demanded cash only. Waitress said that was because they needed the money to pay the staff & she was glad we paid him in front of her, because now he would have no excuse not... More

The historic Rod and Gun Club has seen better days. The cottages were clean and worth the rent, but that's where it stopped. The restaurant has never been air conditioned, but the food was usually good. During our stay, the breakfast service was nil because the coffee machine was broken. Locals told us to avoid their other meals. The management... More

I met a friend here for lunch a few weeks ago and was eager to sit back and chill in the Old Florida landmark, which I've visited several times before. The food was quite good, but the service didn't even rise to the level I'd expect at Chuck E Cheese. The waitress did not get one thing right on the... More

We stayed here on a driving tour of Florida and cannot fault it as it is in the most gorgeous setting and having breakfast on the veranda watching the fishing boats going out was lovely, our only mistake was to only stop one night

The Rod and Gun Club has a unique ambiance not suited for everyone, particularly travelers used to 4 and 5 star tastes. It is on the tired side and the once elegant Lodge catering to Presidents and Northern sportsman has been reduced to three multi-unit cabins with "sort-of" views of the river and small screened in porches.. The Lodge's first... More
