A group of us came for lunch. The place was packed. Have never seen it so busy before! It is a "seat yourself" dining room. I have been here before but just to look around at all the nostalgia. We found a table (it had not been cleaned) and after a good five minutes or more a waitress arrived, cleared... More

After many attempts to get my husband here for lunch, we finally went today with friends. It started off not perfectly and deteriorated from there. Upon arrival, there was a sign reading ''please seat yourself''. So we chose to sit in the enclosed room with doors open to the porch dining room instead of the porch since it was windy.... More

Rod and Gun Club, has got a lot of history. The main building is absolutely fantastic and worth seeing and the lodges on the side of the building are comfortable an quiet. No credit cards are accepted, only cash or travellers checks. Went in the restaurant for diner, and it was empty… Service however was still very slow and not... More

Service was poor, out of the beer we ordered so waiter just assumed we would drink something different. Brought dinner out with appetizers. Never asked us about dessert or coffee after dinner. Spoke with management and the attitude is you drank it and ate it you bought it. One of the worst places I have been to. Don't waste your... More

Beautiful porch and view. We had to wash our own table. Waited awhile for a menu. Was told by our waitress that they were short staffed. Our waitress was hilarious. I am sure she would offend many! The food was good but the fries were cold. Overall our lunch lasted about two hours.

despite some less than favorable reviews, my friends and I booked two rooms at the rod and gun club in everglades city a couple weeks ago. we were on a photo mission in the everglades and the location was perfect. as soon as we arrived from key west, I was impressed with the 'cool factor.' I see everything through my... More

Very unfriendly women informed us that this was a business and not a sightseeing tour. There was one couple dining. I understand why. She said we could either have a drink or pay $3 each. I have never been in any establishment, where you could'nt look around.Even our local driver was appalled and embaressed. I expect it will soon close. Don't bother... More

Advertised as the most elegant experience in Everglades City, we found this old dame to be a little down on her luck and in need of some upgrades. Her location is perfect though. The porches along the Baron River, of course, are just take-your-breath-away beautiful and good place to catch a lunch. The food is average at best though. And... More

We arrived in Everglades City without reservations. We found hotels with higher Tripadvisor ratings already booked. The Rod and Gun had vacancies, so we took our chances. The exterior and the lobby were intriguing but the overall experience proved disappointing. There was no reception at check-in, we had to come back later. The hotel does not accept credit cars, so... We arrived in Everglades City without a hotel reservation, started calling around for a room for the night. This lodge told us they were totally booked....but that if a couple of reservations had not arrived by 6 pm that they'd have rooms to rent....so we checked other places to no avail so I entered this lodge at 6 pm, and...
