We were so pleased with the islander. There was plenty of parking, and the grounds were very clean and beautifully landscaped Every morning they cleaned the pools and hot tubs. There was a pavilion for cooking out complete with charcoal grills. There were families playing shuffle board, and playing on the large lawn, creating a wonderful family atmosphere..We stayed in unit... more

This hotel is great. It is very clean and comforting. There is an HD TV in the living room and master bedroom. The hotel has a fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and 2 full baths.Very clean except for a blood stain on the sheet. There is a Krispy Kreme not far from the hotel.Great hotel! more

I have been taking my children to vacation at the Islander in Destin for the last several years. The atmosphere is great for families and I have always felt very safe there. I recently married and introduced my husband to the resort hoping that he would love it too. He does and now it is a great family tradition to... more

The condos are lovely - especially unit #517 - and the The beach is easily accessible, too. It's a beautiful location. We've vacationed at the Islander since 1998 and our one complaint the past two years is that the staff no longer does anything to control unruly, loud children. This year (2008), there were several children (who appeared to be... more

Our second time to the Islander in Destin. Actually had more fun this time than the first and we didn't think that was possible! The Islander has all the bases covered, in my opinion. They are so well seasoned at hospitality that they don't miss the big things or the small stuff either. The unit we booked was spotless and... more

We stayed at the Islander on Aug 16th thru Aug 20th. This was our first time to Destin. We were recommended by an Islander owner that we met on the Trip Advisor Destin Forum. I liked the way the condos looked on their website. After making the reservation, I had frequent emails from Brandi who was very helpful, informative, and... more

We stayed again in 518 at the islander resort on the beach in destin. But this time we saved $150.00 by booking it on www.vrcbc.com Vacation rentals city beach country. by owner type site. The condo is looking much better each time we go. the staff is always very nice and just cant beat the rates. more

The Islander is showing its age and is not a good value for the money. I could have stayed in Wild Dunes on Isle of Palms, Charleston, SC for less money. The views are great, especially from 718 where you see ocean and bay, but there were too many negatives with Destin itself. In the summer it is just too... more

We last stayed at The Islander 2 years ago and the only reason we didn't the past two years is because of family medical problems. The many years we HAVE stayed there were all sensational. Whether you opt for the Gulf view or the East Pass view condos, you can't go wrong. Convenient to all restaurant and shopping areas but... more
