My 2-night stay at the Hotel Defuniak was not long enough! There is a feeling of home as soon as you walk into the cozily decorated reception, as well as a high degree of professionalism, due to the couple who own and run it. I am so happy I didn't stay at one of the chain hotels in town! It... More

We chose to stay at Hotel DeFuniak based on first impression (website) and found this charming inn to exceed expectations. The owners were very personable, hospitality exudes. The evening restaurant was great and breakfast was excellent - the staff is exceptional. The surrounding area is so interesting - a walk around the nearby circular lake and a visit to the... More

This is one of those "off the beaten path" little gems that is hard to pass up. We had reservations for a few days in January and were disappointed when the large room with a king size bed was not available even though we had a conformation that it was available. We suspect that the room was given to friends... More

If you like old Florida, this is the place for you! Quaint, kitschy and fun in a very unique part of Florida. If you like the country, and enjoy seeing old Florida at it's finest, come to Defuniak Springs. The food at the Hotel DeFuniak is awesome, served hot and flavorful, so don't miss this great place!

I never miss staying at this historic hotel when I am in Florida's Panhandle. I love the hotel, its restaurant/bar (Bogart's), and its art gallery. My mouth is watering just thinking of their Steak Madagascar. I love taking strolls or jogging around the spring-fed lake past the grand historic homes. I love the quaint Catholic church in town. I love... More

The hotel is older, from the days when small towns had little hotels with the public areas decorated like a genteel southern plantation manor. The rooms are quite small and that contributes to the feeling of visiting a manor house. At night, once or twice, you hear the train whistle as it passes through town. Your mind wanders and you... I have to lead this by addressing that negative review because the reviewer appears to be German and I think something got lost in translation. As the owner explained to me, this hotel has gone through several iterations over the last century to become the bed and breakfast it is today. By my best count, there are around ten rooms.... More

Traveling from Texas to Florida, we were beat! Tired of interstate chains, we fired up the iPads. We needed a comfortable bed, wine, good food, and something special. The owner greeted our moving truck in the street, got us parked, immediately got us the wine we were needing, and he & his wife made this a special stop. Old town... More

My Husband and I stayed here during our three week US Vacation and it was by far the worst hotel experience we had. The paint was peeling of the hallway walls. The bead-head was only lying against the wall and everytime the pillow moved the bead-head moved and banged against the bed or the wall. Our room was decorated with... More
