Don't think twice about this place. The staff was friendly BUT the hotel itself is a dump. We had seen four rooms before we chose one. We paid for an oceanfront room and they kept showing us a dirty rooms and rooms with an oceanview. The bathrooms were very small we couldnt close the door. The one pool was closed... more

Firstly, this hotel is not quite as its website would have you believe. We came to Daytona on the 12th day of our trip around Florida, and found that Daytona itself isn't exactly what we'd expected - after the rush of Orlando, it felt like grinding to a halt, as Daytona Beach is a very quiet, almost elderly feeling place.... more

My husband and I stayed at this hotel while in town visiting the grandkids. We enjoyed the easy access to the pool and beach. The breakfast needs some updating, they only have donuts and coffee/tea. Some guests feel it is their right to take as may donuts as they can carry, without regards to the other guests, so get ther... more

I was a bit leery after reading some reviews but I actually enjoyed my mini-vacation here (minus the tacky outside decoration). The rooms were basic but not dirty. I had no problems within the room in the south tower and the balcony view was great! I would stay here again. There are 2 pools, one with a great sundeck and... more

El Caribe was actually better than expected. After reading some of the reviews, we were considering canceling our reservation...but decided to tough it out for the price since it was only one night on our way to Miami and the Keys. We were given a nice non-smoking room with a king bed. Our balcony view of the beach was great.... more

My girlfriend and I stayed at the El Caribe in late march 2009 for a 7 night stay, we got a great deal on a suite on the 6th floor of the south tower. The price was very good, the room was clean and the staff was friendly. The key to this hotel is to stay in the south tower.... more

This is absolutley the worst hotel I have ever stayed at...honestly. If they offered me money to stay there again, I would not. The property itself is bad, but the rooms are disguisting. The toilets are the kind you would find at a gas station, complete with the tall metal piping and handle. The entire room was gross. Black ants... more

Our stay was wonderful. They rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was very nice and friendly. We loved being right on the beach! There was a mix up with our reservation we had made online--someone had canceled it. We found this out when we went to check in, but the desk clerk was very nice and helpful, got us... more

We stayed in the original section of the hotel. The smell in the room was awful. We were very naive and thought it was just cleaner they had used and it would air out. Couple days of keeping the balcony door open and it was as bad or worse. My friend coughed all night and two days after leaving. We... more

For all those saying the pool isn't heated, you need to use the pool on the OLD side, or stop sniveling and deal. /rant We stayed here 3 nights in december, and no, it's not the newest, or the nicest, but I don't feel I need to spend over $150 for a "nice" room. The room we had was clean,... more
