My wife and I booked a KGB deal at the Lantern Pike staying two nights, the first being valentines day. We arrived mid afternoon and were shown to a room at the rear of the hotel, purportdly a twin, this room would have been small for a single, we were unable to pass each other it was so tiny. The... We are always disappointed on those rare occasions when we receive a negative response from our guests. Perhaps we can address some of the issues raised. Our website gives a full description of our rooms. When bookings are made, guests invariably choose the biggest and best rooms available. If a guest wants a particular date then what is available is... More

Went in on New Years Day for lunch. The menu seems to vary on a daily basis and is shown on chalk boards. The poached smoked haddock with mash in a cream sauce was particularly good. Timothy Taylor Landlord is the regular cask ale along with another guest.

Been meaning to visit the Lantern Pike for some time. So glad we went. A warm and friendly greeting from the manager - who was full of interesting facts about the history of the place. It has lovely memorabilia from the set of Coronation Street - so a must visit for any fans. I went with family and friends and... More

Cold November day. Went into the Lantern and found a warm and friendly atmosphere. The other clients were pleasant and the front of house manager, Mark was efficient, attentive and humorous. The food was great, plentiful and well cooked and presented. Appears to have lovely real ales, unfortunately I was driving!

This old fashioned Inn is what you expect from this type of establishment, which is always a good thing. Nothing worse than turning up at a traditional pub and finding it's like a travel lodge. For about the same sort of money you can stay in this pub with it's history and character and enjoy the sort of food you... More

Fabulous lunchtime meal and environment. We plan to be there again for a Christmas meal in December. Oh and we drove from Nottingham, Preston and Leeds just to meet up there, so that is saying how much we enjoyed it.

One of my favourite pubs in the area. Very good Timothy Taylor landlord and other guest beers and good home made style food. Very popular with walkers tackling the nearby Lantern Pike which is the home of a fell race in September.

We were taken here by manchester friends and totally agree that this is a charming pub with good service. Our food was fine and served promptly. Our friends have been a number of times. On the front door there is a sign that says walkers are welcome but please remove muddy boots!
