The room was lovely and bright, comfortable with a comfy bed. Bar and check in staff brilliant and friendly/efficient (first thing was to offer us a drink). Bar cosy with real fires and great Beer and Wine. The major draw for the Lantern Pike Inn is the food. The home made Pate is spectacular. Steaks lovely and juicy and the... More

We called into the pub after a long days' drive and were welcomed by two roaring fires which immediately relaxed us. I ordered the steak and kidney pudding while my wife had the pork and Stilton. Both meals were delicious. We weren't sure if we could manage deserts but decided to give it a go. They were light and tasty... More

Called in here for lunch after a walk to Lantern Pike. Good starting for Lantern Pike walkers. Good location, friendly staff, and a good lunch. Good menu and log fires. Limited choice of beer for a CAMRA pub.

Tom and Stella could not have been more helpful during our stay and all the staff were very friendly. The food in the evening was amazing and just what was need after a day hiking. The pub itself is incredibly cosy, especially with the coal fire. All food was served quickly and was so tasty, including the big breakfast!

Dark room with an insulting notice on the wall asking you not to take complimentary toiletries home with you!! Felt like a smack in the face. Room needed decorating, nasty shade of dark brown, cobwebs everywhere. Host looked miserable. Would not return.

thank you for your recent review though i have to disagree with you that the notice requesting guests to help us keep prices down by freely using the complimentary toiletries but not to take them home is hardly insulting, no one else has ever commented in the past. Good news regarding the decoration - this week we have decorated and... More

Friendly hosts and cosy bar set the scene for a long weekend of hiking and biking. Decent pub grub in the evening and breakfast, couple of nice ales on tap, but didn't live up to the large CAMRA sign outside - another 2 or 3 on tap would have matched other pubs we visited in the area. The twin room... More

I stayed for two night in a very wet mid October to do some walking in the surrounding hills. It's a warm, friendly pub. Fires were burning, the beer was good and the food excellent, including the breakfast. They even made us sandwiches for the day. The room we had was simple but very clean and comfortable. Great staff and... More

We had an over night stay at the lantern pike and were treated to cozy fires and great home cooked food. The staff were friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble to ensure we had a lovely relaxing stay. I would reçommend the pâté which was the best I've had in a long time, and the steaks and trout were... More

Well I've read some reviews on this site and I feel some of the harsh comments were a little unjustified! I booked here for two nights for my fathers birthday as we are both keen walkers. The room was perfectly adequate, clean and had all the little essentials we needed, I mean how long do you spend in a room... More
