This hotel needs a serious upgrade. The rooms jump out of the early 20th century and have not caught up yet. Even the elevator is old school with metal grates and cranks. Mirrors in rooms hung very low and beds need a serious upgrade. Only positive is close proximity to miracle mile but other hotels are better and closer (eg... More

This was an OLD, slightly run down hotel, with a barely adequate room, but what almost had me rate this a 1, was the fact that their tenant downstairs, a bar, blasted music until about 1-2AM on the weekends, and since this is only 3 stories, you had to hear it- no choice. The staff was nice, but we will... More

This place has a boatload of charm, although it's creaking and a little run-down around the edges: parquet floors in the rooms, funky old artwork, a manned (womanned!) elevator. The super critical will despise it. The adaptable traveler may just love it, as we did. There is an excellent restaurant downstairs (Segundo Muelle). Truthfully, it's about 3 1/2 stars, but... More

We chose to stay at Hotel St Michel because we usually stay at a major chain hotel, and wanted to try a boutique hotel. We also were scouting for options for guest rooms for our daughter's law school graduation in May. The location was wonderful - just a short walk to Miracle Mile. The elevator is hand operated - when... More

Sure glad I asked for a quiet room - they put me the furthest room away from the downstairs restaurant but the music blaring on Saturday night was just too loud. We are early to bed and early up and it did not stop until after midnight. I spoke to the staff about it and they were very dispassionate and... More

If you can handle hardwood floors, quaint decor and old world ambience you will enjoy this hotel. Don't expect a fancy elevator. They have a "lift". Plenty of great restaurants and cafes close by. The Miracle Mile is blocks away. And the staff was very nice and helpful. So if you aren't high maintenance, this is the place for you.

As you approach you notice the ivy growing on the wedge shaped corner lot building. The front door is heavy oak with fine detailed carvings. The restaurant on the first floor is terrific for Peruvian sushi, fair wine list and the requisite Miami mixed drinks. The rooms are most certainly not your run of the mill corporate hotel rooms but... More

This is a fine funky property that we thoroughly enjoyed except for the frequent jackhammering noise (likely water hammer from the dish sterilizer) being used in the kitchen just below us until after 10pm, as well as the constant yelling of the kitchen staff as they prepared meals. Management needs to fix the dish sterilizer water hammer for the comfort... More

We've stayed twice at this endearing little hotel, which delivers great value in a pricey market. The Coral Gables location is hard to beat--calmer than Miami Beach yet a short walk to everything you need from good restaurants and coffee shops to one of the most inviting bookstores I know, the aptly named Books & Books. Friendly staff, decent WiFi,... More

This hotel is charming, with really nice people, and within walking distance of all the best things in Coral Gables -- restaurants, Books & Books, etc. We live in Key West and this is our "get away" in Miami for long weekends, and we have never been disappointed. Do NOT stay here if you require a chain hotel or resort,... More
