A group of friends took the "Tropical Star" from Jug Marina to Cabbage Key for lunch. It was the journey not necessarily the destination that made it a fun lunch. No one commented how great their lunch was. I had the Mahi-Mahi sandwich which was good. My wife had the cheeseburger that she said tasted as it was re-heated and... More

We had rented a boat for the day to come over. Be sure to get there early enough to get a slip. We got right in, but when we left, others were waiting. The view from the patio to the water is beautiful, very tropical. Food was tasty. I had the shrimp salad sandwich, husband had the burger, and kids... More

Coming by boat is half the fun. Eating here is the other half. Good food! Great atmosphere and great staff! Top shelf and the view is wonderful. Get there early if you want a boat slip. They fill up fast.

Unexpectedly I had the joy of going for lunch at this beautuful Inn First off; the surroundings are warm and inviting, water and tropical gardens surround you. We had a superb lunch of Mahi-Mahi with black beans and rice. THE best I've had. Their margaritas are well worth the price. Overall cost was a bit high but we had no... More

My wife and teenage son spent 3 nights, 4 days at Cabbage Key St Patty's week 2014. The stay could not have gone better. We stayed at the Dollhouse Cottage which was met our needs perfectly with nice size small fridge, coffee maker and plenty of room for 3 plus great screened porch and private dock. It was an interesting... More

We have been to Cabbage Key Restaurant several times over the years. Twice so far this season. It's a fun place to boat to. Helpful dock master. The grounds are gorgeous. The restaurant is known for hamburgers, but I have always enjoyed the beans and rice with blackened chicken. The service is abysmal, the crowd is noisy, but I always leave... More

5 out of 6 entrees were raw but since it took so long to get it we couldn't get it all re-cooked. They will still charge you full price for inedible food. They should have comped some of the meal that couldn't be eaten. Save your money!!!

Had 2 hrs here for lunch on a boat cruise. Took nearly an hour to get a table and our food which was good but have had much better for less cost. Extremely noisy, popular bar and restaurant, so noisy at times that you cannot hear your friends. Island and surrounding charming but too busy with guests and drop in... More

The staff was absolutely fantastic. Outgoing and positive. We stayed one night in the doll house. great view and wonderful atmosphere. We were waited on by awesome wait staff who were fun and made our trip a great time. The rooms are not cheap so I would have expected better quality beds(extremely small and uncomfortable) and the tv didn't work.... More

I found Cabbage Key online and booked two nights. The food, staff and accommodations were amazing! Not stuffy, but laid back where everybody knows your name! Loved every minute of it. Booked a room in the Inn but they upgraded us to the Rinehart Cottage which was fantastic. Clean and everything we needed. Watched the Gopher Tortoises from our screen... More

Thank you for sharing about your recent stay in the Rinehart Cottage. The Rinehart Cottage is one of the original structures on the island. It was originally the caretaker's home back in the 1940's. It is now an updated two bedroom, one bath cottage - on top of the hill overlooking the Pine Island Sound. I will let Diana know... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Cabbage Key is a 100 acre island located five miles off of Pine Island, FL in the Pine Island Sound. The Inn, built in the 1940's by the family of Mary Roberts Rinehart, now houses our famous Restaurant & Dollar Bill Bar and six guest rooms. The rooms in the Inn are all different with old Florida charm - they do not have TVs, phones, or refrigerators. We have seven cottages on the island, ranging from a 1 bedroom/1 bath cottage to 3 bedroom/3 bath waterfront units. All cottages have refrigerators, televisions (no cable) and coffee makers, some units have full kitchens. Our restaurant is open seven days a week and serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. If you want to relax on a beach...we do not have one here. But, Cayo Costa is a close kayak or boat ride away. This is a great retreat to discover "Old Florida", relax with a book, fish from our docks & watch the boats go by. ... more   less
