September 2014. My wife and I had never heard of Cabbage Key although we have lived in the southwest Florida area for ten years. We participated in a breast cancer fundraiser and saw that one of the auction packages was for a few nights at Cabbage Key along with the two-way ferry expense. So....we bought raffle tickets for the package... More

Highly overrated! We asked to sit by the window in the money room and were told no, that the 2 person tables could not be pushed together for a family of 4. Only 7 people in entire room, including waitress, the entire time we were there! Burgers are good but not amazing. Waitress didn't have a clue about food on... More

Thank You for your review. We strive to be certain our guests leave Cabbage Key happy with the experience and apologize this was not the case during your recent visit. Typically this time of year is a good time to visit as it is our off season and you don't have to wait for seating. Your server did inform you... More

We have visited Cabbage Key Restaurant over the past 25 years and it never changes . Of course the staff does change, it's a tough way to live on an isolated island (we miss Mallard) but nothing else seems to.The dockmaster does a great job of juggling boats and their captains with their differing levels of expertise. The past 3... More

Thank you for your kind review and comments regarding our staff. Our Dockmaster does have his job cut out for him on busy days and he will appreciate your comments. Debi is a long time employee and she does a great job, and we are certainly glad you enjoy the food here. We will pass your comments on to Senior... More

We visited this place as it was recommended to us by a friend. I liked the atmosphere. The waiter a guy that recently moved from Chicago was so friendly and helpful. The food was great. Tasty and plentiful. Not your ultra high-end food. But hey you are in an island! The pier keeper wasn’t very nice. For a moment there... More

Sounds like you had a great experience at our restaurant. Your waiter would have been either Ricardo or Jovanny (both have recently relocated from Chicago). They are both very friendly, helpful and most enthusiastic. Sometimes for the Dock Master it does get difficult taking care of different skill levels of boaters in the summer heat. Thank you for your review... More

We have been to this island many times over the last 20 years. There is no place quite like it anywhere in world. My kids love it! You have to take a tour or hire your own boat to get there. We rented a boat from 9-3pm and had lunch and fishing before and afterwards. Beautiful place with old Florida... More

We did a lunch trip to Cabbage Key with Captiva Cruises. We had 2 hours on the island which was perfect. We had lunch in the money room. Although they don't have AC (or it was minimal) the shaded location and fans made the room very comfortable. Our server was Debi and she was fantastic. She was very fun and... More

It was a long 3 hour boat trip from Punta Gorda to Cabbage Key and a record breaking heat day, however the cheeseburgers were better than my hubby and I remembered. Yum! We ordered them well done instead of medium and they were served promptly and were cooked perfectly and at the perfect temperature. Our screwdrivers and rum punches were... More

We rented a boat and boated over to cabbage key for lunch...they are most famous for their burgers. The burgers were good but not the best I have ever had. Service was ok, we ended up getting stuck there due to weather and spent about three hours eating and drinking. No really much else to it.....

Boated over with friends and family to a restaurant we'd heard good things about. Lovely trip over there.. The day was hot, so opted to sit inside. No AC, but overhead fans made it tolerable. The place self-proclaimed itself as the original Cheeseburger in Paradise, claiming it is where Buffett was inspired and wrote the song. I wonder how many... More

Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent visit to Cabbage Key. The story that "Cheeseburger in Paradise" was written about Cabbage Key is a rumor started many years ago...something Cabbage Key, Inc. has never endorsed nor advertised. However, in the 1970's, Jimmy Buffett did spend time at Cabbage Key before he performed a concert in Ft.... More

My family and I made our way out to cabbage key island on a beautiful sunny day. Before having lunch we grabbed a couple of cold drinks to walk around the nature trail. There's also a water tower that you can walk to the top and get a nice view of the surrounding islands. And a great breeze!! The kids... More
