Both son and father made me feel welcome. I was able to use the free Kayaking for hours in the morning. When I could not figure out the two remotes for the TV. They instantly replaced it and gave me a lesson. No this is not a french restaurant. Breakfast is a cooked basics, just like home. Coffee, orange juice,... More

The Barnacle B&B has only 4 units and is very private. The rooms are large and comfortable. It is right on the water and provides kayaks, bikes, hammocks and real relaxation. The deer come right up to the place and nestle in the seaweed. This place feels very different then others in the Keys. Maybe like the Keys felt years... More

My wife and I visited at the end of September and absolutely loved the place. We arrived late at night and the owners left us a key and a note saying that they had upgraded our room for free. Nice location on the beach, clean rooms, and good breakfast. We took their glass bottom kayak out one day, and little... More

The Keys are all about sky, water and nature, the way it used to be without all the neon and glitz that some of our beloved islands have become. Our daughter gave us a get away night after 3 days of crazy conch grandkids running around. Way off US One, quiet, tranquil Long Beach Estates is nothing but nature and... More

We stayed at Barnacle one night. We called the same day as a last minute idea. We arrived later in the day and they had left us a nice note on the door. The view from the main balcony is amazing. The rooms were really clean and the bed confortable. They made us a simple but good breakfast. It is... More

My wife and I spent one weekday night here, before heading on down to Key West the next day. There were two other guests. The location is fairly isolated (away from the main Overseas Highway, but adjacent to other properties) and quiet, and has abundant island wildlife (deer, iguanas, birds). The room was spacious, a working A/C, and had a... More

David Sorry that things were not as you expected. We are interested in making a good impression on our guests. We will make every effort to improve where we are lacking. As for the beach, it is that way with seaweed because we are a turtle beach and can not do certain things. Three had been days of wind so... More

We stayed here at the end of 2011. Had we paid youth hostel prices it would have been a great memory of an eccentric place. However, they are NOT charging youth hostel prices; far from it; they were charging $200 a night for 4 people in one room. Look at the poor reviews; they are spot on. Where the good... More

We are not a youth hostel and do not advertise as one. Not sure when you stayed. We do not have the option of using equipment on our beach because it is a turtle beach. We would love a sandy beach in the water, but we must take what we have. Sorry that you did not have a good experience. More

A beautiful view compensates for the quirkiness of this little treasure. The Ocean Room was clean, comfortable and cool. There were some unusual features to become accustomed to, like the tiny shower and the odd fawcet handle combo in the bathroom sink, but it just took a little getting used to. As it lies within the Key Deer refuge, the... More

After running around Key West, it was nice to visit a B&B that is secluded and totally unique. The setting is great for relaxing by the ocean with little to do but enjoy one another and just chill. Our room was very comfortable and faced the ocean, which was about ten feet away at high tide. This is like one... More
