Great long Memorial Day weekend at the Barnacle B&B – our third trip to the B&B, which won’t be our last. We were able to lounge outside the Ocean Room (which my 87 yr old mother had) on the patio and under the beach front shade trees with 5 family members talking, drinking cool drinks and reading. Lunch was a... More

We absolutely loved our stay and it was perfect for us. So, so quiet and relaxing. Perfect amount of kitschy tropical island feel. It was exactly what I wanted out of our fist time visiting the Keys. We are a young couple that hates resorts and cookie cutter hotels and avoid "luxury". The Key Deer are so precious. Iguanas everywhere.... More

To relax you cannot have a better place as the Barnacle. Right on the beach, the famous Key Deer come to you when you're relaxing in the garden of the Barnacle. Eric the host will make a great breakfast when he's able to wake up. You can make use of the bicycles and the canoe's.

stayed at barnacles for 2 days during our trip along the keys - I must say the place is amazing but don't expect all mod cons as the building is how it was when it was built - the beach outside and tikki hut are great for bbqs also got an outside hot tub in the tree - heaven the... More

This is a great place if you like peace and quiet, the ocean, shore birds, stars and key deer. Don't go if you want 5 star accommodations. It's a funky, keys B&B with wonderful breakfast and perfect location only 30 miles from Key West and 4 miles from a beautiful beach. Free use of bikes, kayaks and more.

The stench from the seaweed strewn beach was overpowering. The area surrounding the actual accommodations looked like a junkyard. The owners live in a trailer on the property and during our 8 night stay in Jan. 2014 (we booked before we knew the conditions, unfortunately), there was no evidence that the owner did any repairs or maintenance. Chairs were rusted;... More

My wife and I stayed here for six days in January 2014. We stayed in the Ocean Room, a quirkily decorated throwback to the 1970's, which included a shower head as a substitute for a bathroom sink faucet. The room itself opened out onto a beach area and had a nice outside sitting area. That said, the whole place seemed... More

If your ever in big pine key and you love that comfortable at home feeling you have to stay here... the rooms have an open air feeling and feel more like a small apartment in the tropics. The views are absolutely stunning and its one of the best breakfasts I've had on my trip... highly recommended!

Barnacles is located in a quiet area of beautiful Big Pine Key. It was fun to watch the key deer walk thru the small beach. The upper deck is a wonderful place to sit & relax anytime day or night. The beach was a perfect place to enjoy a bon fire. But you needed to find your own firewood. Our... More

Paradise Lost Years ago I would spend my vacation every year in the Keys at The Barnacle. The original Builders/Owners managed the property. The buildings were kept fresh and clean on the inside and the décor was interesting and tasteful. The grounds outside were beautifully landscaped and groomed. All amenities were functional and available. A usable boat ramp and dockage... More
