We stayed at Barnacle one night. We called the same day as a last minute idea. We arrived later in the day and they had left us a nice note on the door. The view from the main balcony is amazing. The rooms were really clean and the bed confortable. They made us a simple but good breakfast. It is... More

My wife and I spent one weekday night here, before heading on down to Key West the next day. There were two other guests. The location is fairly isolated (away from the main Overseas Highway, but adjacent to other properties) and quiet, and has abundant island wildlife (deer, iguanas, birds). The room was spacious, a working A/C, and had a... More

David Sorry that things were not as you expected. We are interested in making a good impression on our guests. We will make every effort to improve where we are lacking. As for the beach, it is that way with seaweed because we are a turtle beach and can not do certain things. Three had been days of wind so... More

We stayed here at the end of 2011. Had we paid youth hostel prices it would have been a great memory of an eccentric place. However, they are NOT charging youth hostel prices; far from it; they were charging $200 a night for 4 people in one room. Look at the poor reviews; they are spot on. Where the good... More

We are not a youth hostel and do not advertise as one. Not sure when you stayed. We do not have the option of using equipment on our beach because it is a turtle beach. We would love a sandy beach in the water, but we must take what we have. Sorry that you did not have a good experience. More

A beautiful view compensates for the quirkiness of this little treasure. The Ocean Room was clean, comfortable and cool. There were some unusual features to become accustomed to, like the tiny shower and the odd fawcet handle combo in the bathroom sink, but it just took a little getting used to. As it lies within the Key Deer refuge, the... More

After running around Key West, it was nice to visit a B&B that is secluded and totally unique. The setting is great for relaxing by the ocean with little to do but enjoy one another and just chill. Our room was very comfortable and faced the ocean, which was about ten feet away at high tide. This is like one... More

The room was very nice but the A/C never really cooled it off. We enjoyed the breakfast and the isolation and lovely key deer. I would definitely return because of the atmosphere. Eric was very agreeable to any questions or problems.

We just stayed 3 nights at the Barnacle, renting the cottage. It is an awesome building, just as the main one, very unique design. I really enjoyed checking out how creatively it is used to be able to store things and the decoration gives the perfect island living feeling. As much as we mostly enjoyed our stay, there were some... More

Great long Memorial Day weekend at the Barnacle B&B – our third trip to the B&B, which won’t be our last. We were able to lounge outside the Ocean Room (which my 87 yr old mother had) on the patio and under the beach front shade trees with 5 family members talking, drinking cool drinks and reading. Lunch was a... More

We absolutely loved our stay and it was perfect for us. So, so quiet and relaxing. Perfect amount of kitschy tropical island feel. It was exactly what I wanted out of our fist time visiting the Keys. We are a young couple that hates resorts and cookie cutter hotels and avoid "luxury". The Key Deer are so precious. Iguanas everywhere.... More

To relax you cannot have a better place as the Barnacle. Right on the beach, the famous Key Deer come to you when you're relaxing in the garden of the Barnacle. Eric the host will make a great breakfast when he's able to wake up. You can make use of the bicycles and the canoe's.
