I have been here many times and they have all been great. While it is a campground it is not really "too rough". They have nice bathrooms, electricity and water hookup in most locations and it is surrounded by water. Just do not forget the bug spray and flashlights! The beaches are beautiful and the snorkeling trip takes you to... More

Spent the day here with my family. Couldn't ask for a better day. The park was clean, the views were breathtaking, the water was clear on the golf side. The Atlantic Ocean side had a lot of seaweed. Once you got past the seaweed, the water was clear. The park has a lot of things to do. Kayak rental, snorkel... More

I stayed here camping for the first time and it was a good experience I won't forget. One can take RV or tents. The area to put the tent was spacious, private and convent. It's basically an open end rectangle that one can put the car in front to hide the tents. There's outlets in every post. A fire pit... More

We stayed at a waterfront site for a week and never wanted to leave!!! We could do everything we wanted (snorkeling, fishing, swimming) right from our site and it was perfect! We even stayed over a holiday weekend and were a little worried about crazy noise, but there was none! I would definitely go back!

You have your beach, clear water, and great fishing...what more could you ask for? Night before deciding to go to the Florida Keys for my birthday, a spot opened up for 3 days of camping. The idea of spending so much money (and I mean a lot for a Keys hotel) for lodging was disheartening and we were down to... More

Nice beaches, a few to choose from, the water is very pretty. However if you plan to camp here make sure you know which site you want. There are a number of sites with no power and a number of them are so small you can barely put up a tent on them. Unfortunately we got a site that was... More

We camped at BHSP for the first time in March 2014. We spent 3 days and 2 nights in site 75 on the bay side. The weather was amazing. The temperature was in the low to mid 70's each day and the nights were only slightly cooler, though still very comfortable. Coming from Orlando, we love to find places that... More

WHAT: BHSP is a state park that covers nearly the entire key. During our visit it seemed only ~85% filled with campers, which is weird given how insanely hard it is to reserve sites! The park is open to non campers, but they are few. I guess most people just go to other keys? We never had problems finding privacy... More

I have been here so many times starting in the mid 70's. Of course make sure you book 11 months ahead of time which I believe is the earliest you can do this. If you have kids, you can go to this one area on the Atlantic side which goes out pretty far and it is only knee deep.

We went here for the day to check out the scenery while in Big Pine Key. Nice picturesque beaches and walking trails. Beware of jellyfish and Portuguese man of war though. There were a few man of war washed up on the beach. Apparently they can still sting when dead. Unfortunately, there were no signs or warnings in sight.
