My partner and I often pick a city to visit in December so we can take in the Christmas traditions of a new place. We consider this trip our Christmas gift to each other so opted to stay at the Hotel du Pont, a member of the Historic Hotels of America preservation club, in downtown Wilmington. They let us do... EVERYTHING is EXCEPTIONAL. The bedding, the towels, the bathroom, the decor, and free WIFI. Even the hallways are pin drop quiet. NO thin walls here. This is a luxurious hotel. It is soothing to be here, so very relaxing and elegant. The front desk staff are great. Dining is in the Green Room. The food is delicious, with excellent service.... More

Our stay at the Hotel DuPont was one of the highlights of our trip. It is a shining gem in Wilmington. The renovation has kept all the old world elegance but with a bit of contemporary flair - we were especially impressed by the lobby - and our room was immensely comfortable. the front desk actually greeted us by name... It's an old hotel; that's part of the charm. The hotel has done a good job renovating furniture and its style, but it's still a bit dated. It's a nice spot though and I stay when I visit family in the area. Rooms are pretty large and so are the bathrooms.

Perhaps I have different idea of what 4 star service and hotels are based on staying in LA, NYC, London, Paris, Taipei etc but what I received here was very disappointing. I don't whether they were homophobic, or just plain ignorant. The front desk staff was rude as were other service staff and seemed to lack class or manners. The... More

My wife and I have stayed at the Du Pont several times - the latest being for their New Year's Eve celebration. The room we had was very spacious with a large sitting area containing a comfortable sofa and chairs. The bedroom is large as well with a king that was very comfortable. The bath area is huge as well... More

My daughter was in Wilmington for an interview and was put up at the Hotel Du Pont. We drove in to meet her for dinner. She got a handicap room and it was unbelievably large. The furnishings were beautiful and comfortable and the room was very spacious. There was a nice couch and two very pretty chairs in the sitting... More

My significant other and I just stayed at the Hotel du Pont for their New Year's Eve celebration. We had a package which included a 7 course dinner with wine pairing, cocktail hour, dancing, champagne toast and brunch the next day. We were pleasantly surprised when we first arrived at how large our room was. We are used to staying... More

We recently stayed at The Hotel du Pont on a short trip to Wilmington to see Winterthur. While I like to stay at classic old hotels, I have shied away from them recently. They need care, and the care they get rarely seems up to snuff, especially considering the usual cost of the accommodations. Quite the opposite at The Hotel... More

This hotel is a historic hotel and extremely impressive. It was absolutely beautifully decorated for the holidays! Service was wonderful. Our room was nice and spacious. Very deep tub but the shower head was low. Temperature control didn't seem to work as we weren't able to make the room too cool. Wifi was absolutely awful so we gave up trying... More
