We booked this hotel through Orbitz purely on the basis of being close to the Dupont Country Club as we were attending a formal event. We got a reasonable deal. The positives; - It is certainly different/quaint - set up like a small village with the reception/spa/fitness/lounge in a large building and the accommodations in separate buildings about 100 yards... My friend had stayed here two other times; I fully understand why she wanted to return! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay; easy access to Winterthur, Longwood, etc., etc. The "house" was very clean, service excellent, and the dust of snow the perfect holiday touch! :-) NEVER have I slept on such luxurious sheets; the coffee "bar" well supplied; the bathrooms... We spent 2 nights in December to tour all of the holiday things at Longwood, Winterthur and Hagley, and enjoy all the great things in the Brandywine area. Belin was our king suite, and very nice. The stairs up to the bed and bath were steep, but not a problem for us. And what a great 2nd floor it is.... More

The 5 out of 5 is for the unique setting and arrangement. The inn has been well described in many of the forum posts, but what struck me is how much effort has been put into the design and details of the unit. We were in the Morgan unit which has a entry-level room with gas fireplace and TV with... More

We've stayed at the Montchanin Inn multiple times, and each house room or cottage is beautifully appointed and very welcoming. The bathrooms are always amazing with luxurious toiletries and heated towel racks, some have huge tubs for two... Keurig coffee makers, microwaves, refrigerators in every room, including complimentary water and soda, make you feel right at home. The staff is... More

We planned a visit to the Christmas Tour of Winterthur and its exhibit of the Costumes of Downton Abbey so chose the Inn as a nearby place to stay. Booking through Expedia was a problem. They did not communicate to the Inn that we needed a low floor for a handicapped and we were assigned a second floor with a... More

We're so glad we stayed at the Inn. It was so much more than we could have imagined. The area is lovely with alot to see and do and the changing leaves were beautiful. We had to stop for deer crossing the roads more than once. Our suite was extremely quiet with the most comfortable bed ever and a relaxing... More

We have stayed here three times, twice as a stop during a long East Coast drive, the third to stay to visit all the sights of the Brandywine Valley - which are many. The Inn has quirky accommodations that may not suit everyone. We've always had a one-bedroom suite package that includes vouchers for breakfast and dinner. The one-bedroom suite... More

My 82-year mother wanted to see the Downton Abby costume collection at Wilmington Delawarean Winterthur museum. We were recommended to stay overnight at the inn at montcharin. It's listed in every collection of fine inns. First we wanted to share a room. No go. The rooms only had one double bed. I was convinced by the receptionist on the phone--no... More
