Stopped here on the way to Grasmere. The place was packed, but we were still welcomed warmly. They have a great selection of local ales and serve really delicious food in very large portions - the beef & ale pie was tender and superbly tasty. Being so full, parking was difficult but worth a bit of a struggle. Highly recommended.... More

Been here three times to eat and the first two times it was excellent - the third good. This is an extremely busy pub and getting a table can be difficult. The good bits - order at the bar and you get a tab to save paying multiple times. There are two bars here - one (the River Bar) is... More

We love staying at this hotel, it is so dog friendly. The food is all home cooked food. I'm told the beer is really good ( I don't drink beer) it makes my husband snore very loudly so must be good. Very relaxing place to stay even though it's a pub you never hear the noise downstairs when your in... More

I stay here and drink and eat here regularly. The beer is tremendous, especially the Collie Wobbles, and the steak pie has no equal. At the end of a walk or as respite from bad weather, the Watermill ticks many boxes. It is disappointing then to find young new male staff who feel it appropriate to refer to middle aged female... My friend and I decided to take a spur of the moment trip out for lunch are were not disappointed. I had been here before a few years ago with a large group and enjoyed the food. We started with whitebait and though this was understandable a frozen product it was very tasty .My friend had the fish and chips... More

Took friends out to lunch to thank them for having us to stay and all wished we'd found this great pub ages ago. Warm atmosphere, an excellent choice of top-quality well-kept beers, friendly staff and very good food. How I wish this was our local! Parking could be a problem in this tiny village - we had to go up... More

The Lake District is our favourite place, and we have always come to The Watermill for lunches and dinners before, so this was our first time staying. We stayed on the occasion of my husband's 50th birthday, and the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to make it really special. They beautifully decorated a table for us... More

On the way back from Windermere we dropped in here and were not sure what to find as it is not easy to see from the main road. A sunny patio in the evening with a happy family atmosphere! The staff were very friendly as we asked about the different beers they brew and the bottles for sale. We tried... More

Chose to stay here on the off-chance as many other Lakeland Inns were either pricey of full. It was a smart move because we both thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Only booked for a couple of nights but the weather along with the so far enjoyable stay here saw me asking the management for an extension... we were lucky as our... More
