The micro-brewery aspect initiated our visit to the Watermill and the beer was really excellent but we found the food to be very average. The bar area is very cosy and inviting but the restaurant areas were as bland as the food. The waitress was friendly but we couldn't say that about the bar staff. In all, a disappointing experience.

We chose this place to take an overnight break travelling from the South coast of England to Turnberry in Scotland. Arriving early evening we found the car park and lane outside packed full of cars and almost a full house inside. The welcome from the bar staff who booked us was both warm and cheerful, dispelling all worries with local... More

With this being the local pub of Ings we visited for the couple of nights we stayed down the road. The pub has a lovely outside area and on both visits had a welcoming atmosphere. We ate on our first visit and were a little disappointed with the food but the pub had a massive selection of drinks! The idea... More

Great place for real ale fans. Nice cozy place. Good staff, although could be a little more friendly. Not a great deal of choices for veggies, but OK. Good selection if ales. Certainly worth a visit. Try the different ales. You will be pleasantly surprised.

We visited this Inn and we had a really good evening. The food was lovely and there was plenty of it ! The ales were brilliant , with a really good selection. Combined with a really lovely atmosphere and ample seating, I only wish it was closer to where we live !

I have just returned from another wonderful 3 night stay at The Watermill. There's nothing better after a day out in the Lakes, than to return to a warm friendly hotel, and relax with a nice meal and a few beers. I have stayed quite a few times in the past, and hope to return for a few days between... More

While camping in the Lake District, after a visit to Kendal, on the drive back we noticed a van parked near the main road which had the beer they brew displayed. We turned round as soon as possible as we cannot resit trying new places and new beer. How glad we were. The Watermill Inn and Brewery is as close... More

We stayed just one night at the Watermill Inn, having just finished walking the Dales Way at nearby Bowness. We definitely think it was worth walking an extra three miles uphill to get here, as it represented excellent value for money compared with the over-priced accommodation on offer in the more touristy Bowness! Our room was a large, family-sized room... More

Booked following a recommendation from friends. Went with another couple and our dog for 1 night. We had a great day and night. Our dog was greeted enthusiastically and given a bowl of water. We tried a few of the home brewed ales and ate lunch as we were too early to check in. Delicious! We were in room 5... More

We were staying at a nearby B&B and for two evenings walked to the Watermill Inn for our evening meal. The location is excellent. It has a traditional 'pub' feel with a cosy friendly atmosphere and, thankfully, no piped music. On both evenings it was busy, with a mixture of locals and holidaymakers, but tables were available and the staff... More
