My family rented three rooms on the second floor of this fairly large inn. The owners were helpful and friendly, and accommodating in adjusting my room reservations. The public rooms were comfortable and welcoming, and the breakfasts home-made albeit a little sweet. The bedrooms were comfortable but a little small, but given that this is an older building that was... More

This traditional-style B&B was a delight from start to finish. We were arriving late after driving from New York but found hot drinks and homemade cookies waiting for us. We had asked for vegetarian breakfast options and they were delicious and substantial on both the days we were there - omelette one day and french toast the next - with... More

We were looking for a place in the Madison, Westbrook area to serve as a base for a couple of scenic drives up the coast and a trying some local eateries, preferably with a little history. Capt. Stannards fit that bill. It's a converted captain's house from the late 1800s within walking distance to a local beach. We stayed in... More

I had the pleasure of staying 2 nights in this beautiful rustic b&b. From the moment I had arrived I was in AWE by the old charm of this GEOURGOUS home. I was greeted by the owners Jim and Mary who by the way are two of the warmest nicest people that welcome you with open arms. They make you feel... More

We stayed one night for our anniversary and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The host couple, Jim and Mary, were so nice and friendly. The room was very comfortable and the property itself is gorgeous. Our breakfast was incredible, Jim really outdid himself. We will be returning for another stay soon.

My husband and I had never been to Coastal Connecticut. We researched accommodations for days and were most impressed by the accounts of others who had visited this beautiful Bed and Breakfast. Upon our arrival we were delighted to find that the Inn was even more outstanding than the website had depicted. The Inn itself is a virtual treasure trove... More

My husband and I really enjoyed this place. The food was wonderful, the couple who run it were excellent. And they were so friendly and gave us great ideas on where to go for dinner. It's a nice place to stay if you want to bicycle around the area especially given the beaches which are very near.

We arrived on Saturday September 5, 2015 during Labor Day weekend. No one was there to greet us as we arrived about 6:30. There was a note on the door as to where are room was located and other guests helped us find the way in. We noticed there was hot tea in the lobby and cookies in our room.... More

Mary and I are truly sorry you were disappointed in your stay. We had to be away and thought we had all the covered but it sounds like some things fell through the cracks in your case. I hope you will give us another chance so we can spoil you as we usually do. More

We enjoyed our stay at Captain Stannard very much. It is a beautiful and charming building. Our bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and the room was spacious and pretty. . The inn was fairly close to the beach also. . My wife and I were fortunate, though, as the owners only had a limited amount of beach... More

We expected to enjoy this place much more than we did, based on the reviews. The good things: the good location for our interests, the nice sized room and attractive furnishings and the beauty of the rest of the house and grounds. The cons: No one was there to meet us when we arrived (at 7:30 PM.) so we had... More
