Samonas Traditional villas is a complex of villas constructed from old renovated stone houses in a small farming town way up in the mountains above Chania. The entire complex has been lovingly restored by the owner and offers one of the more unique places you will every stay. It is about a 20 minute drive down numerous switchbacks to get... More

Stayed here for a day during my 1st ever visit to Crete. Though the hotel is a bit hard to find, once you check in, it's all worth the pain! It's one of the best hotels that I have had stayed in my lifetime. There is a character in every unit in the hotel. Everything is eco-friendly and support the... More

Wonderful and peaceful views of both mountains and distant sea. Several terraces for each maisonette. Tranquil place. The maisonettes have all thinkable appliances. Owner Konstantinos has carefully thought about every detail, be it the traditional decoration in the rooms, the music and books collection, walks in the mountains, ever varying and equally delightful breakfasts, the welcoming country flags for every... Where to start? We stayed three nights at Samonas and just dreaded leaving. Konstantinos, on site most of the time was beyond customer focused. From the prompt and complete email responses; to the personal greeting; to the full tour of the property; to the creative and varied breakfasts; to the shop with food and wine supplies … everything was well... The villas are simply beautiful, the swimming pool a gem, the blooming flowers taken care of, the vistas viewed from the terraces - breathtaking: all is fantastic. But, if you happen to travel with a small child or a disabled person, beware of possible difficulties: whole settlement (and the villas inside) is spread throughout several levels linked by sometimes steep... Spend one night in villa No 4 in may 2015. Our host Konstantinos was very friendly and welcoming. He was very knowledgable about the area and helpful with introducing the villa and common areas. The setting is very quiet and beautiful, the views over the mountains are to die for. Breakfast was really nice too, and we have really enjoyed... More

Samonas is isolated in a small town of the same name. The owner is the best of hosts. He cooked great breakfasts each day that are served in the individual rooms or courtyards. The units are amazingly large and beautifully decorated in a traditional Cretan style. Our week there was totally relaxing. We did not want to leave.

We travelled here in August with 2 children, 9 and 11 years. We wanted to give the kids the chance to sample real, traditional Greece life - with modern day comfort. This property achieved just that, together with the ambience being very friendly and the environment exceptionally clean.

The hospitality was amazing and the apartment was fill with historic artifacts and novelties. The Taverna down the road was filled with amazing food and fresh produce that you know right away that the food is grown right on the land right next to the establishment. I felt right at home the moment we arrived I can't wait for my... More
