Great customer service, older style charm, but all amenities were good. The bed was a little on the hard side, but after such a long drive, we slept very well. Breakfast was good although the older breakfast attendant could do with a lesson in manners and friendliness. A recommended location for weary travellers. FYI ... We didn't see any ghosts!

My great grandfather was an innkeeper who ran various hotels throughout New England during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Most of his original inns are now gone; the Kearsarge House in North Conway, NH burned, the Mansion House in Greenfield, MA and the Norfolk Inn in Norfolk, CT torn down; only the Brandon Inn in Brandon, VT and... When my car broke down in Litchfield I was expecting to stay at the inn however, my plans changed and I ended up here. I was so excited because I love rustic and old places like this! The rooms were pretty simple but that was okay with me because I just needed a bed to sleep in. However, when I... More

Stayed 1 night at the Yankee Pedlar Inn….and that was more than enough!! I booked this hotel because it was the only hotel in the downtown area… We arrived late on a Friday night so we had no choice but to stay. Pictures on their website are in no way what the rooms look like…..maybe 100 years ago!! This place... More

It's an old inn.....that is exactly what it is.....Nothing is updated and the rooms are very small. Front desk staff upon check in was very nice the other staff that were there had zero personality. The breakfast consists of some muffins and bagels and bruised fruit. Location is very nice though and through booking.com we got a very good rate

Room smelled musty. Hallway smelled of smoke. Hotel is quite old and does not appear to have been updated along the way. Mattress was lumpy and full of coils. I did not want to unpack and put my clothing in the dresser. No shelf space in bathroom. Air conditioner was noisy and inefficient. Overall, we are sorry we didn't stay... More

This is a historic building, and has the ambiance of the distant past. This was appealing to me, since most hotels/motels are very plain and dull these days. The interior has an impressive design, and the rooms are "old school," some even have two separate rooms, with the bathroom in the middle. Its fun to experience a trip back in... More

We stayed for 2 nights at hotel, we took two rooms, one for us and one for our two grown daughters. When we first checked in it was obvious that someone had smoked in one of the rooms, we asked to be moved and was moved immediately. The rooms were nicely decorated, the bathrooms clean and week laid out. However... More

It has not been updated for many, many years.. that's the beauty of it. If you want new and beautiful, skip this place. If you like old, unique and friendly.. come have an adventure. The owner will teach you to play checkers in the lobby and you will feel right at home in no time. The best part is once... More

Had reservations for one night. The Lobby had a terrible musty smell.I asked to see a room with hardwood floors and immediately realized I couldn't stay here. We had tickets for the Warner Theatre right across the street but we ended up staying in Norfolk . There is no ambience here only years of dirt. They offer no apologies and... More
