We were quite hesitant to book this hotel after reading many of the reviews. But we were in dire need of accomodations in downtown Torrington for an event we were at over the weekend. In the end we were pleasantly surprised. Yes, the inn would greatly benefit from a facelift. Yes, our room was rather dated and droopy. But our... more

The 100 year old hotel was just what we expected. They had wonderful antiques and pictures. The 79.00 room we had on the thrid floor was very clean, and we had no problems w/noise. Air conditioning was fine. It was an older room, but that is what we had expected. The staff was very cordial. We just grabbed fruit on... more

My wife and I stayed one night here and were very disappointed. We had always wanted to stay for a night since it intrigued us, and it is located in downtown right across the street from the Warner Theatre and the new Cambridge House Brewpub. The two-person reception staff looked disheveled and unkempt. Not dressed professionally for the job (t-shirt... more

My friend and I stayed here while attending a function a half hours drive away. We had strange dreams two nights running (identical dream) and on the first night I got up to shut off the water in the sink - neither of us had left it running. After we returned home I learned that the inn is haunted...says a... more

We stayed at the YP in Torrington for a west side wine tour. We got to the hotel at 7 PM, and were given our previously reserved room. Unfortunately, the room had not been cleaned yet from the previous visitors. We went downstairs and told the clerk--who was very nice and apologetic. We said no problem, we wanted to get... more

I loved everything about this hotel! I nearly passed it up for the usual chain hotel in the area, but I'm so glad I took a chance on an unknown. My room was large, clean, decorated beautifully in antiques, comfortable, and exceeded my expectaions. The bathroom was modernized and clean as well. Of course the hotel is over 100 years... more

We booked due to an ad in a discount travel coupon book picked up at an interstate rest area. We ate dinner in their in-house pub, Bogey's. Our party of four adults enjoyed the food very much. Our room was pleasant, clean, temp. stable. Although old fashioned we liked the historic feel, the photos in the hallways, and the ghost... more

The Yankee Pedlar was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I am not usually in the habit of posting reviews online, but I wanted to save other people from staying here. Not a single nice thing about the place. Old (not in a charming way), dirty, terrible housekeeping, flimsiest, dirtiest pillows ever (maybe part of the "colonial" charm),... more

Everyone at the hotel was very nice but the rooms need attention. When my husband and I walked into our room, we were somewhat shocked by how musty and dingy the room was. The bathroom floor was very dirty and missing tiles. The shower had mildew growing. The blinds didn't close properly and were covered in dust. My husband and... more
