arrived quite late, around 10pm, mid august 2013, the lift - thought i was in the dark ages! eventually settled in our tiny, dirty room, paint hanging off the walls and air conditioning heater groaning away... we thought we would make do the first night..... woke up in the morning, to find the room and bed covered in ants!!!!! awful... I grew up in a small town and want to support small businesses, but... Traveling for business with a foot of snow coming, Hartford was a risk and so my collegue and I found ourselves at the Yankee Pedlar Inn. My first impression was The Shining meets Larry, Daryl, and Daryl. It landed up to be more akin to staying... More

This place was awful! Anyone trying to sell this as old and charming is kidding themselves! Paris is old and charming; this is just old! The double room they gave us had a broken bed and the mattress had huge stains on it. The ceiling and walls had huge cracks and looked like it was going to fall in any... More

We went to Mohawk mountain ski and we stayed at this inn. This place has a lot of old charm, especially for those who appreciate this. It's clean, quiet, homy, basic, and very good center of town location. For the rate they charge, it's a great value.

A stay at this downtown Historic Inn was a wonderful haven from the fast pace world. It allows one a chance to soak in the unique colonial setting of a time long past era, dating back to 1891. While the rooms don't scream modern day devices, one has all the necessary conveniences needed for a delightful stay. The staff is... More

The staff here is excellent, always very helpful. the hotel? I mean, it's cute and all, but there's a reason we don't use steam radiators anymore...they bang! and they're hot, so you have two reasons to stay up all night. Not that you're sleeping anyway because the structure is so flimsily constructed that you can not only hear your neighbors... More

But weren't. We loved the decor and the history. We were charmed by the appointments in our room; the mattress was beyond comfortable. Unfortunately, we were there at the onset of the cold snap (Nov 23, 2013) . The parking lot really is small (see other reviews) and inconveniently located at the back of the property. It was a very... More

This is not a Holiday Inn but a fantastic piece of history. It was built in the 1900 and is not a fake. The staff is fantastic and the place is just what an INN should be. I enjoyed the fact that it has not been torn down and replaced by something modern. It is a place to relax and... More

Of course we came here and had to stay in the "haunted room", I believe 353 ,which was indeed an experience. We took tons of cool photos here, and loved how the rooms were very old fashioned. We went in February (right after the horrific blizzard!) and enjoyed the location. Everything was snow covered and quiet outside, so it was... More

We booked from out-of-state months in advance because we knew there is a dearth of hotel accommodations in Torrington. We asked about parking when we reserved, and were assured there was ample on-site parking. Our reservation was for 3 nights, and we paid in advance. Big mistake, as the first night, we realized we should have left and found a... More
