There are a great many reviews of the Yankee Pedlar and having stayed two nights I cannot disagree with with many of them. The hotel ownership is being transferred with both parties currently involved with the running of the place. The problem is that the hotel has seen better days, those days probably being in the 1890s or at least... More

I stayed at this Inn for one night. Love old Inns - really wanted to like it. The staff was very friendly however the accommodations are in need of an upgrade. This is a great old place but in need of a big 'refresh'. The first two rooms I was shown really should not even have been an option. The... More

We spent a night in this 100+ year old Inn. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The building is showing its age, but it still well fitted out. The room was clean and the bed was good. The free WiFi worked very well.

The hotel was old. If you take away the TV and AC in the room, it feels like you go back in time by at least 150 years. Sound proof was non existent. You can hear squeaky sound when someone walk pass the door and slamming doors was a norm. Room was clean and sufficient for 1 or 2 nights... More

Old...very! Loved it! "Haunted"...not sure... but loved the thought of it! Charm...in a round about way...fun! We went for a over night get away from New York , met the owner, hung at the bar in the hotel, told ghost stories and just had a great time. It really depends on what you are looking for, is it different? Yup,... More

Great Indian staff, the rooms are sufficient. The price versus quality is ok. Had a good stay over here. You should trie the elevator, it takes you way back in time. Grts a Dutch traveller Collins around the corner is good for a quick bite or beer.

I was in Room 206. It was a very comfortable room. My only complaint about the room was the faucet and spouts in the bathrooms. There are two separate faucets and spouts, hot on the left, cold on the right. Meaning you really couldn't mix the two, because they were at opposite corners of the sink. In washing your hands,... I can't quite figure out how I feel about this place. We needed a last minute room, and it got the better reviews of our few options. When we first arrived I wanted to turn around and leave right away. The back parking lot was pretty bad....creepy and dirty. When we walked in the place right away seemed old and... More

Great customer service, older style charm, but all amenities were good. The bed was a little on the hard side, but after such a long drive, we slept very well. Breakfast was good although the older breakfast attendant could do with a lesson in manners and friendliness. A recommended location for weary travellers. FYI ... We didn't see any ghosts!

My great grandfather was an innkeeper who ran various hotels throughout New England during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Most of his original inns are now gone; the Kearsarge House in North Conway, NH burned, the Mansion House in Greenfield, MA and the Norfolk Inn in Norfolk, CT torn down; only the Brandon Inn in Brandon, VT and...
