We drove into the Litchfield area without planning ahead on a Saturday night. We were tired and there weren't many choices in hotels, so we booked a room at the Yankee Pedlar sight unseen. It was a real dump! While the lobby has some antique charm and the staff were pleasant and accommodating, the room was shabby and musty. The... More

The building is old and needs maintenance. The room smelled dusty and needed a thorough cleaning. We were unable to unlock the door with the brass key provided and we needed to call the front desk each time to unlock the room.

We chose to stay here over a chain hotel because of the charm of staying in older places and it had the best rate. It definitely is a blast from the past like the other reviews are saying. Decor is old and so are the in-room TVs. However, the bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. We had fun... More

This is an old hotel in downtown Torrington, CT. It is not fancy or trendy but if you like antique charm, you'll love it. Our room looked like it could have been in a Bed and Breakfast anywhere in New England. The lobby is filled with books. The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful. To go upstairs,... More

I don't know whether Yankee Pedlar management is disorganized or dishonest, but after the AWFUL experience I've had speaking with multiple people in management I'm leaning toward the latter - dishonest. After a months-long roller coaster my wedding guests (I'm the bride) are left with nowhere to stay with a month until the wedding. In October I met with Jay,... More

It is a good job that the Yankee Pedlar Inn claims to be haunted because it really doesn't have much more going for it. When we arrived there, we were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist. She accompanied us to our room as the old elevator can only be operated by reception staff. The room was extremely old-fashioned and it... More

My 17 year old daughter wanted to stay in the haunted hotel when we were in the area. We stayed in the "most haunted" room. I didn't notice anything but she is sure she heard footsteps. Haunted or not it was a pleasant stay. The inn is very old with narrow doorways and squeaky hinges and floorboards. The room was... More

Who said the USA didn't have any history, however some things are not worth preserving! After visiting "Historic Main Street" in just about every town in New England this hotel truly is historic/prehistoric! I realise that this hotel will face many challenges to modernise; however a TV with a tube, in 2015, I think not. This place is oozing with... More

This was the coolest hotel I have ever stayed in! It was like stepping into the past. Everything in there was old and creepy! I loved the ghost stories I read prior to going there and made a point to visit the haunted rooms. I wanted to stay in one but my boyfriend didn't. If you're into old, creepy stuff... More

I have stayed here multiple times while either skiing locally, seeing the opera or a show at the Warner theatre across the street, or visiting family. If you're looking for bell hops and mint under your fluffed up pillow, then this place isn't for you. Yes it's old. Hello! It's a historic landmark. Yes it needs some tlc and beware... More
