Although we did not stay at the hotel, we had our wedding at this venue. The hotel management, staff, and recommended caterer were superb. We had 65 guests which is about the maximum the venue can accomodate, although it did not feel crowded. The hotel provided an intimate setting, (felt like we were in someone's wonderfully designed home." The staff... more

Very private and beautiful rooms, with great service and staff. The Stamford down town is close by, and the staff will do anything to fill any of your requests. We will definately be back! more

The hotel Chesterfield in Stamford was a surprise. It really is a converted house and has 9 rooms.Downstairs a reading room and a sitting room.Although it says hotel you can only have breakfast there. But they ordered a meal for me which I ate in my room.My room had nice views over the water. The staff were very helpful,Norwegian and Hungarian. The room was... more

Agree with another reviewer that they're not quite there yet. We were the only guests one of the nights of our stay, yet no one made an effort to leave the front desk (at the end of a long hallway at the back of the house) to greet us or tell us about the (beautiful and historic) house or any... more

The house is lovely. Accommodations were great. But not quite the charm of an Inn yet. We're used to being met by a proprietor, escorted to the room, conversation about amenities, information on breakfast. Instead, we were met by a lovely young lady who offered none of that until we asked questions like, "So tell us about breakfast." She confessed... more

My wife and I stayed at the Chesterfield recently and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We both can be very critical of inns and hotels who give themselves a five star rating, but this establishment truly earns that rating. The hotel itself is wonderful clean and maintained - although you do have to drive through some shady areas to reach the... more

Fabulous atmosphere and charm. Tastefully appointed rooms and comfortable common areas. Desk staff were pleasant and helpful upon arrival. My children (22 and 18) and I were tired and hungry. The desk staff was able to provide us with some handy takeout delivery menus. They kindly offered their dining room for our use and provided us with tableware. We had... more

This is one of my very favorite hotels. Its old, quaint, very New England. Its clean, charming, and every detail is perfect. We had the rehersal dinner there and much of the wedding party stayed over the weekend. The staff went out of their way to make my sister's wedding weekend a dream come true. Thank you! more

My husband and I stayed at the Chesterfield for a two night "mini-moon" stay following our wedding. We arrived tired and sad that our big day was over, but upon entering the Chesterfield, we both felt our spirits lift. The staff was SO kind and accomodating, serving us a fabulous take-out dinner in their dining room on Sunday night. We... more
