We spent one night at Capt Grants and it was very nice., Ted greeted us when we arrived and showed us around. Told us where everything was and what was available. We had the room with the fireplace and there was a supply of firewood available. Breakfast was excellent and Ted and his wife were great hosts and interacted with... More

We stayed here while visiting our daughter in the area. The inn really is a great getaway in a very good location if you're visiting this part of Connecticut/Rhode Island. Very old, rustic comfortably furnished. Our room was a nice size for two, with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was wonderful and filling. The owners are very welcoming and helpful.... More

Where to begin? The owners were very nice, maybe a little over friendly to compensate for their below par accommodations. They even sat down and ate breakfast with us. The Mrs. told us some "sad" story about how someone had stolen her credit card information a couple months earlier and was stealing money from them. I thought it was a... More

I booked the Holly Room and Margaret Room online. I called to verify my reservation and was never told they were in a different house. I called again two days before my trip and mentioned I was staying in those rooms. It was then that I was told that they were in the Avery House. Ted stated the Avery House... More

My husband and I have stayed in many B & B's, and consider Captain Grant's to be one of our favorites. Breakfast on the terrace was outstanding, our room was immaculate and well-appointed, and Ted and Carol were delightful hosts. The house itself is rambling and full of nooks and crannies, just what you would expect from a pre-Revolutionary War... More

Well what can I say, I chose this place because I was tired of chain hotels and wanted to put something into the pockets of independent owners for a change. I was not disappointed, Ted and his lovely wife were charming and cultured hosts. The breakfast was the best I've had for a very long time, scrambled eggs to die... More

My wife and I went to Captain Grant to re-kindle our love affair which had been started in High School and been interrupted by life, Ted and his crew set up a perfect atmosphere for us including having rose petals on our bed when we arrived. It was the perfect start to a great weekend. We came back the next... More

My husband and I stayed at Captain Grants in 2013. What a beautiful BnB!!! We walked around the beautiful yard with great landscaping. This home is very charming. The renovations that were done made you feel like you were living in a different era. Breakfast was delicious and conversation with the staff and the the guests, it made you feel... More

My wife and I stayed at Captain Grant's 1754 in March of 2014 after my wife had done research on the place. When we arrived we were greeted by Ted, who was extremely professional and very helpful about the place and the area of Preston Connecticut. Ted made several great restaurant recommendations to us and we had a great time... More

Thank you Ted for your review. We love the history of this place as much as our guests. We strive to keep the old girl (Captain Grant's) in excellent shape and sometimes we miss a bit. As long as we keep at it our guests get a bit of change in their experience each time they stay and there are... More

We have stayed at Captain Grants three times, while participating in the zydeco festival at Strawberry Park. We have enjoyed our stays each time. Carol and Ted are wonderful hosts. They put a lot of effort into making people feel welcome, assembling a nice breakfast, and running a clean and nice establishment. The room we stay in is small (the... More

Tom, Thank you very much and also for mentioning the festival. That small room that you stay in is such a draw for so many people. I am glad that you are ok with it. We would love to see you again. Carol More
