This was our first attempt at a B&B, and we were not disappointed. Captain Grant's is a historical building, well preserved for it's age yet definitely rustic. The service was great, with the owners Tad and Carol joining us for breakfast on Saturday. They were both helpful and offered opinions regarding points of interest without being overbearing. The room we... More

We have stayed here a few times. The rooms are small but comfortable, and the hosts are lovely and offer the kind of breakfast you linger over. Our last stay was cut short due to a weather emergency and the hosts did not offer any kind of reparation, but at the same time it was our choice to leave.

I must say that I was quite upset when captain grants lost my reservation on the night of my wedding. I called and spoke to carol 2 weeks prior and made a reservation. A family member wanted to pay for the night as a wedding gift and when we were on our way up there I got a call from... More

We spent one night at Capt Grants and it was very nice., Ted greeted us when we arrived and showed us around. Told us where everything was and what was available. We had the room with the fireplace and there was a supply of firewood available. Breakfast was excellent and Ted and his wife were great hosts and interacted with... More

We stayed here while visiting our daughter in the area. The inn really is a great getaway in a very good location if you're visiting this part of Connecticut/Rhode Island. Very old, rustic comfortably furnished. Our room was a nice size for two, with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was wonderful and filling. The owners are very welcoming and helpful.... More

Where to begin? The owners were very nice, maybe a little over friendly to compensate for their below par accommodations. They even sat down and ate breakfast with us. The Mrs. told us some "sad" story about how someone had stolen her credit card information a couple months earlier and was stealing money from them. I thought it was a... More

I booked the Holly Room and Margaret Room online. I called to verify my reservation and was never told they were in a different house. I called again two days before my trip and mentioned I was staying in those rooms. It was then that I was told that they were in the Avery House. Ted stated the Avery House... More

My husband and I have stayed in many B & B's, and consider Captain Grant's to be one of our favorites. Breakfast on the terrace was outstanding, our room was immaculate and well-appointed, and Ted and Carol were delightful hosts. The house itself is rambling and full of nooks and crannies, just what you would expect from a pre-Revolutionary War... More

Well what can I say, I chose this place because I was tired of chain hotels and wanted to put something into the pockets of independent owners for a change. I was not disappointed, Ted and his lovely wife were charming and cultured hosts. The breakfast was the best I've had for a very long time, scrambled eggs to die... More
